WEP - is there any point joining when GC?

Was wondering whether anyone involved in the WEP felt there was any chance of it returning to be a Women's Equality Party rather than a TWAW party? And whether there's likely to be GC candidates for any internal positions where it would be worth having right to vote?

Not that I know of.

Karen Ingalia Smith joined a while back but I don't know what became of that - I remember she was "turned down" by the Labour Party more recently.

They are just starting the consultation process for policies on that kind of thing.

I lost interest in the WEP after reading their TWAW policy. They are a joke. Why even bother to set up a women’s equality party if you think ‘woman’ can mean anyone of either sex?

I was one of the members in WEP that spoke up at conference in 2018 against a motion put forward supporting self-ID, the motion was ‘referred back to committee’ to be considered further. It’s taken them 18 months and they’re only just starting a consultation process now. The problem is that the party is very small and a lot of the people with positions of significant influence were names signed on that motion, there seems little hope of any impartiality. I got fed up of giving my time and energy to them and left the party. Ironically Labour used this as an excuse to not permit me membership either, despite having left WEP! Apply again in 2 years apparently!

If anyone does have the mental energy, it would be a good time to be a GC member as they are supposedly listening to members at the moment, or will be soon. But for me personally, I ran out of fucks a while ago. There is a WEP women’s declaration on Twitter @WepWomen if you want to network with other GC WEP members.

I resigned my membership for that reason and I live in an area where they field parliamentary candidates Sad

WEP has a close relationship with Diva. Last year Mandu Read, the leader was part of a panel organised by Diva that gave an award to Dr. Harrop.

So if the leader of party for women thinks this nasty man is award worthy for the abuse he dishes out to women alongside his mate, Hayden, then the party is really not credible. Totally captured and worse still, actively promoting the abuse of non believers.

Thanks all, sounds like it would be a frustrating waste of time

Diva gave an award to Harrop? Shock

Diva gave an award to Harrop? Shock
The last time I picked up a Diva, the first two names I saw were Susie Green of Mermaids & M Bergdorf.

I put it back on the shelf very quickly.
