Transwomen face being banned from playing rugby with women

World Rugby is considering banning trans women from playing women’s rugby because of significant safety concerns that have emerged following recent research...…… there is likely to be “at least a 20-30% greater risk” of injury when a female player is tackled by someone who has gone through male puberty....

About fucking time

Durgasarrow · 20/07/2020 18:51

20 to 50 percent, it seemed to indicate in the study.

Durgasarrow · 20/07/2020 18:54

Transwomen are “are stronger by 25%-50%, are 30% more powerful, 40% heavier, and about 15% faster than players who are assigned female at birth (who do not experience an androgen-influenced development).”

These fats need to be repeated when it comes to every sport. Whenever it comes to bathrooms. To any private space. These are the inconvenient facts that women live with.

Durgasarrow · 20/07/2020 18:54

facts

Sittinonthefloor · 20/07/2020 19:11

And anyone who argues against this ruling is clearly not bothered about hurting women. What has the response been?

moofolk · 20/07/2020 19:53

Finally!

MintyMabel · 20/07/2020 19:59

No particular issue with that but I'm genuinely surprised that he cuts the mustard. I was a semi decent footballer but I was way out of my league when guesting in a male team. And frequently off the pitch for blood injuries*

I used to go out with a rugby player. He was pretty much the same size as me. As a winger, it was his speed rather than his bulk that made him an excellent player.

Good good fuckity good!!

ShineyMcShine · 20/07/2020 20:08

Should be like this for all sports. Felt disgusted watching the fight between the "transwoman" and actual woman

But I bet he was a hell of a lot stronger than you, and I'd put money on him being faster than you even if you were a county-level woman sprinter/ middle distance runner.

I'm a climber. One of my many ex boyfriends who was also a climber was only an inch taller than me, and a very similar body type (allowing for the difference in sex, obviously) - but the difference in our strength was just huge.

LizzieSiddal · 20/07/2020 20:36

If this does happen, it will be a great example to use to discount the nutty “trans women are women” mantra.

ChattyLion · 20/07/2020 20:39

Good move by the rugby authorities. Increased injury for women players must not be the price of male validation.

Dozer · 20/07/2020 20:43

Outrageous that this was allowed in the first place. Dangerous. Rugby is already one of the most dangerous sports.

QualityFeet · 20/07/2020 20:46

Yeah it’s a tough game and so important that female teams only have biological women. One f-m trans player who was to play in a male team is now in a wheel chair permanently after a bad tackle. It Is an awful outcome but should also be a rare outcome. It would be more frequent with more m-f trans players.

Thank goodness. Now for female martial arts, boxing, wrestling, football, roller Derby etc.

ButterflyBitch · 20/07/2020 21:12

Aw what a shame Hmm

GinUnicorn · 20/07/2020 21:16

Fantastic news. If anyone is on Twitter I recommend visiting the wonderful Dr Emma Hilton for her research on this as it’s fascinating

Voice0fReason · 20/07/2020 22:50

It is completely disgraceful that women were ever put in such a dangerous position in the first place, of having to compete against men.
