Has this been posted already? It's from an email they sent. I saw it on Twitter so I'll be back with links.

We’ve lost the plot.

highame · 15/07/2020 19:27

Registered in UK (England Scotland Wales) so must be bound by UK Law

midclegs · 15/07/2020 19:29

The Interim co-Chair of Action Aid UK is one Helen Pankhurst, granddaughter of Sylvia, great-granddaughter of Emmeline.

midclegs · 15/07/2020 19:30

(That's just been posted on a WhatsApp group I'm on from a very reputable source...)

Standardy · 15/07/2020 19:33

You can kind of expect this kind of crap from some woke, virtue signalling company, but it's disgusting from a charity many people donate to at least in part as they claim to protect girls and women. If this is true, won't be getting another penny from me, will find another who does similar work but actually cares about women.

Sicario · 15/07/2020 19:33

Like so many other charities and organisations, they have been "Stonewalled". Stonewall has been misrepresenting the law and peddling their rewritten version of the Equality Act, under the guise of "diversity training".

Single-sex protections and rights are written very clearly into UK law.

Stonewall needs to be investigated, held to account, and their illegal "guidelines" removed from every single institution in the UK.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 15/07/2020 19:36

I'm not on twitter, has anyone let the Baroness know about this one?

I don't think anyone has gone this far though, have they?

It's one thing to argue that TW are women (because you can say that, under the EA and gender identity, any qualifying individual is a legal fiction of the opposing sex), but it's an entirely different beast to say there is no such thing as a biological female.

Xanthangum · 15/07/2020 19:42

This is worse than the Tesco/ Amazon/ Starbucks Mermaids tie ups. So much worse - this could destroy a brilliant charity that does really important work.

Emergency trustee zoom tonight lads?

SerenityNowwwww · 15/07/2020 19:42

@DianasLasso

Who do we give to instead of Action Aid?

Plan International? Christian Aid? (Who, despite the name, don't push Christianity as part of their work - my staunchly and vocally atheist ex used to give to Christian Aid Grin. I was the Action Aid supporter in the household.)

Recommendations for charities who know that FGM, sex-selective abortion, infanticide, child marriage, denial of abortion rights happen because of sex not gender feelz.

SOS children’s villages.
happydappy2 · 15/07/2020 19:44

email enquiries take up to 48 hours for a response.....really hope they put out a statement before then. Am hoping this is just a hoax

It's just so incredibly stupid. Assuming it's true then it's Ratners level stupid in terms of tarnishing the brand if the media decide to go to town on it.

At least with Ratners most of the victims of the stupidity were either wealthy shareholders or at the very least people who could get another job and move on. Here the victims of any potential fall out are very vulnerable women and girls.

midclegs · 15/07/2020 19:51

I think the Baroness already knows but I'm not sure she does about the Pankhurst connection.

Do we have any legal bods on here? I write a few letters on these sorts of matters (although nothing as outrageous as this) but I'm never sure if I use the right words.

SerenityNowwwww · 15/07/2020 19:54

I just don’t understand how anyone could wander into this Waterloo these days without understanding that it will cause a drop in donations and bad press. There will be a nasty whiff around them now.

How shortsighted can you get.

Nackajory · 15/07/2020 19:55

MichelleoftheResistance good point well made

Siablue · 15/07/2020 19:58

This is awful. It is just so insulting to the women and girls they set out to help. If there is no such thing as a biology woman how do they know who needs a one of their period packs. Are they going to put them in the gents? Give the to cows?

Of course they should support the trans community but this shows they have lost the plot. An appropriate way to do this would be to provide safe spaces for them in the countries they work in where there is a lot of oppression. This does nothing to help anybody. I feel really upset by this.

Standardy · 15/07/2020 20:01

That is true @Packingsoapandwater!

Is this genuine and not some woke idiot in charge of press?

I can't reconcile a charity that works to support the most vulnerable women and girls with this press release. It makes them as an entitiy irrelevant.

It's certainly possible. It's utterly bizarre how little attention is paid to their social media presence by some fairly major operations. Astounding; the shite they allow to be posted in their name. The end result is the same for me, I'm afraid.

@SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito

Someone sent her the screenshot. She's responded twice.

First she asked "Well, who chairs them now?"

And then she responded to the same screenshot by a different user "I think we are no longer interested in the 'work' of ActionAidUK".

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 15/07/2020 20:14

Thanks, Penny.

Jintyfer · 15/07/2020 20:14

I can't Believe that. I actually can't believe I'm reading those words from Action Aid. 😢

Thisismytimetoshine · 15/07/2020 20:15

It's real, then? Shock

DrDavidBanner · 15/07/2020 20:18

I'm just so bloody tired of all this. I wish they'd get their stories straight.

I mean what is the end game? It feels like they want to get rid of us completely, and then what?
