Sorry for the daily fail link but saw this on fb this morning and thought yes exactly!
Not a Tory but this woman seems to have it right, and be brave enough to stick her head above the parapet.

She is excellent. Recently interviewed by Posie Parker on you tube.

rogdmum · 14/07/2020 08:41

She is fantastic. She’s been tweeting about the issue for quite a few months now and hasn’t backed down despite the usual criticism.

wellbehavedwomen · 14/07/2020 08:42

The story claims that puberty blockers are reversible. That's not necessarily so, and there's also too little attention paid to the reality that 100% of those taking them go on to medically transition, when desistance when not taking them is between 80-90%. That in itself is an issue, surely.

She's a brave woman, raising this so bluntly, and also raising the reality that lobby groups should not be determining policy; not in government and not in schools. Shame few MPS, despite many agreeing, are brave enough to say the same.

chunkyrun · 14/07/2020 08:42

Why's it have to be a Tory though? Labours just handing them votes 😟

highame · 14/07/2020 08:46

Yes they are chunkrun and I worry that some of us will never go back to labour because in order to right the ship, they will have to get rid of an awful lot of members. Sad though it is I think I will have to spoil my ballot next time too!

ChattyLion · 14/07/2020 08:57

Yes! All MPs need to be able to talk about women’s safety, dignity, privacy, safeguarding, children’s right to an open future, online grooming, the needs of detransitioned people, regulatory capture, freedom of speech, (same) Sex (attraction) based LGB people’s needs and rights as distinct from Gender-based T people’s needs and rights, all of it.

NonnyMouse1337 · 14/07/2020 08:57

Labour isn't some embodiment of virtuous and pure human values. There are all types of MPs in both parties - some are principled, while others might not be particularly nice people.

When the Left get carried away with 'equality' and whatever cause is trendy, it is the Right that is able to step in and pull back towards respect for liberty, free speech, exerting caution and so on. Both the Left and Right are needed in society to influence and curb the excesses of the other side.

ChurchOfWokeApostate · 14/07/2020 09:01

Was this seriously your first thought?
I’m not even being snarky, it just seems weird to me that there are people out there whose political tribalism rules their entire life, and every issue that comes up seems to have to be framed through that lens.
Must be exhausting

highame · 14/07/2020 09:02

Good points NonnyM

MsTSwift · 14/07/2020 09:04

Labour good Tory bad simplistic student politics thinking.

Newwayofthinking · 14/07/2020 09:05

Great article

Why is it in "Female" instead of the main news part 🙄🤔

chunkyrun · 14/07/2020 09:08

Well yes when you're currently in political no mans land it's a concern that come voting time I'm more likely to spoil my vote then opt for any of the available options. Why should this not be a concern?

crumpet · 14/07/2020 09:31

What is so interesting about this whole issue is that it has crossed party lines and has moved way beyond tribal politics in terms of those advocating for a proper examination of the issues.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 14/07/2020 09:43

She's good, isn't she?

I don't care that she's a Tory. I'm sick of not looking beyond political labels. If the Tory party are the ones who are going to stand up for women and girls then I'm going to fucking well vote for them.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 14/07/2020 09:47

Well done to Jackie Doyle Price.
Finally someone talking sense. I wonder how long before the pile on begins and they try to cancel her.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 14/07/2020 09:50

Why is it in "Female" instead of the main news part

I'm surprised there's still actually a 'female' section! Awaits the cries of transphobia for them using the 'f' word.

merrymouse · 14/07/2020 10:14

Nobody has ever managed to explain away the link between gender identity and gender stereotypes.

relevent recent thread:
"Standing For Women: Jackie Doyle- Price MP, "My message to women everywhere is use your voice and tell your MP what what you think...

Important interview with Kelie-Jay Keen.

Jackie Doyle-Price MP has already spoken out in parliament on the need to protect women's rights & Safeguard children. The interview concludes with Jackie Doyle-Right urging women to write to their MPs.

52:42
K-J K "How do people approach their mp? What do you think would be your advice ?"

J D-P "Well, write to your MP, but I can tell you that MPs pay a lot of attention to what arrives in their inbox. You know I get upwards of a hundred items a day.
You'll find that some campaign organizations are very good at organizing campaigns. Actually I don't take any notice of any of those. Everyone sends the same letter, completely useless! So you just go through the motions responding to that.
But, where people write their own letters and make their own case and it is the individual constituent telling me what they think from their hearts, I take notice.
So, I would encourage every woman who's really bothered about
this to put pen to paper to your member of parliament. And tell them what you think because once MPs realise this is something that people care about, they'll make it their business to get involved.
So, my message to women everywhere is use your voice and tell your MP what you think and then hopefully they'll come and find me out and we can see what we can do."

Plenty of Tory policies that aren't going to do women any favours though. Vote for them because of one very important issue, then shit on women with other issues. It's a no win situation

R0wantrees · 14/07/2020 11:05

If the Tory party are the ones who are going to stand up for women and girls then I'm going to fucking well vote for them.

The Conservative Party have been responsible whilst women's rights & sex based Safeguarding has been undermined.

There are some Conservative politicians who are standing up against this just as there are some politicians who are SNP and Labour.

Of the sex whose reproductive role is to gestate and bear young.

Let's just say this while we still can. Because it's true, and however many people try to make us lie about it, or remain silent, it will always be true.

In times of universal deceit, speaking the truth is a revolutionary act.

It hurts MY feelings to see 'transwomen are women'. It damages MY mental health to see that, it makes ME feel erased and MY identity feel destroyed. I have a voice and I deserve that voice. WE deserve it.

I am Spartacus. A woman is an adult female human. Sex is binary, immutable and defined by reproductive role.

If you report me, or get me banned you shoot the messenger. Because this is true and will always be true. And this day, this day of a lie, I WILL say it.

It just seems weird to me that there are people out there whose political tribalism rules their entire life, and every issue that comes up seems to have to be framed through that lens.

For those of us who are Labour voters, and who have always seen the Labour Party as the party of social justice and equal rights, it just feels really depressing that the Party is now so useless on those issue. They have more female than male MPs, yet most of them seem to have drunk the Kool-Aid. I long for one of them to stand up for the rights of women and girls and speak out against this madness.

And that's not to detract from the bravery of Jackie Doyle-Price - I'm grateful to her.

PennyNotSoWise · 14/07/2020 11:23

@Newwayofthinking

Great article

Why is it in "Female" instead of the main news part 🙄🤔

It is shown on the main page, it just directs to Female when you click. So a lot of people will be seeing it, it's not buried away or anything like that.

Now you've got me wondering when they're going to change it to the Menstruators Section 🤔
