Just seen this on Twitter. Anyone else think that this is utter bollocks (pardon the pun). From a "journalist" who writes for Teen Vogue and describes herself as a feminist.

"A thing that broke me recently was coming across a story from a surgeon who said he did GRS on an 85 year old closeted trans woman because she did not want to be buried with her penis.

She had no plans on ever coming out to anyone but needed to die in peace."

If any surgeon did unnecessary, traumatic surgery like that on an 85 year old, they deserve to be struck off.

Yes it does sound like bollocks. I like the pun. ...

SetYourselfOnFire · 14/07/2020 05:02

What's the name of the writer?

SunsetBeetch · 14/07/2020 07:22

Yes, that's utter tosh.

Teen Vogue is really pushing this shite.

reepicheepsconscience · 14/07/2020 07:44

@SetYourselfOnFire it's Katelyn Burns.

Katelyn Burns is the 'first openly trans reporter in washington'.
So brave!
Does being 'trans' mean you get to invent stuff and write about it?

reepicheepsconscience · 14/07/2020 07:57

@Destroyedpeople stunning and brave! Explains a lot.

How are we so sure that's a lie? If there are doctors out there performing surgery on children (as per that poor detransitioned girl in the article on Sunday who had a double mastectomy at 15, which she now regrets), then I can completely believe those same doctors would do this.

SarahTancredi · 14/07/2020 08:18

Surely its the kind of surgery that would require a support system after ? Who did they release the patient to after the discharge? Surely they didn't release them home alone with no one to keep an eye on them or awareness of the aftercare needed.

Who came to pick them up and what did they tell them?

Katelyn Burns is...rather unsavoury. A certain fruity site has a thread on them.

Recently there was a link to a story in a Scottish newspaper (Glasgow times I think) from March, which said that 2gay men went to M&S in Glasgow to buy trousers for a Gran's funeral, wandered into the bra fitting changing room and overheard someone saying something like ' don't want to get my tits out on front of them' and the staff agreeing, and the 2gay guys were appalled because they could've been trans....I am very gullible usually but that had 'fake news' writ large, for so many reasons ( the only changing room they could find was the one tucked at the back of lingerie?? And bra fitting rooms are a cubicle within a cubicle, so no-one is getting anything out in front of anyone) but the big giveaway was that an M&S shopper said 'tits': Glasgow or no, surely she would have said 'boobs'??
