Book on periods referring to ‘people’ who have periods

Is it me? Am I being over sensitive?

I got this book for my daughter and we were looking at it together and it dawned on me the words girl and woman are not used at all. I had to explain to her that it is girls who have periods not boys.

Made me livid that a book about periods does not even use the word girl!!!

Well I was poking around a cancer charity site today (as you do) and looking at the types of cancer that are mostly one sex or another (breast cancer being mostly woman of course). Oddly enough, only cervical cancer didn’t use the word man or woman but ‘person’ in the descriptions (ie prostate, testicular, cervical, breast).

Breast cancer did say woman and the whole page was about woman - but at the end did say that in some cases men can get breast cancer.

I thought that was a bit odd.
