Apologies if this has been covered already on this board.
Does anyone know much about "conservatorships", legally?
The fact that Britney Spears' actions have apparently been controlled by two men (her father and a lawyer, paid a lot from Britney's estate) for over a decade seems alarming.

I don't know, it seems that this conservatorship has been in place for 12 years during which time she has done a 4 year residency in Las Vegas and did judging on some pop idol, X factor type programme.

She may not be forced to work, but she most likely wants to do it to get out of the house. It's her only chance for some type of life.

I just saw yesterday’s videos on instagram and people are saying she’s giving coded clues and making signs of the illuminati .

They are also saying she is not the REAL Britney and a clone- something to do with the fact she now as a gap in her teeth!!!

That's because her veneers or dental adhesive or whatever have worn off. It's Britney and she's in danger

It seems there is something very, very wrong with the "guardianship" law in America - I assume the "conservatorship" that Britney is subjected to is the same thing? The "dementia" excuse for asset seizure suggests it is.

I'm concerned that nothing we know about this, including how restrictive the conservatorship is, is accurate. The level of batshittery about it online means there's really nothing I'd feel comfortable saying I believe.

I don't know whether to believe any of this.

Her instagram is now full of comments BW out her welfare and "wear pink / black / gold / flowers if you're in danger"

I have always loved her. She always came across as sweet and polite in interviews etc.

I honestly think she is very very unwell though. The way she speaks and acts on her instagram is heart breaking.

Imagine your whole life being exploited. Even from childhood, being exploited by the very people who are suppose to love and care for you the most - your parents.

@AliceinBunnyland The comments on her Instagram are just bonkers. And actually if there is something amiss that seriously needs looking into here, those sorts of things make people take it less seriously.

You've got to wonder about the commenters really, surely they aren't very young? (I'm thinking of the crazy one direction fans a few years back, they were mostly preteens/young teens). Britney doesn't have that fan base at all, her fans are mainly grown adults who were teenagers when she was huge.
People my age and a few years younger, maybe 30+ ish? I bet most 13/14/15 year olds barely know who she is, or care.

The comments on her Instagram are crazy! People tagging the FBI and other celebs with pleas for them to help rescue Britney!
Calls for her to wear a certain colour or dance to a certain song if she is in danger!!
I have no idea what is going on, her Instagram is very odd, all the videos are of her dancing alone in her huge house or walking back and forth in front of the camera!
None with her children or friends-sometimes her Boyfriend is in the videos(whom her insta fans think is her "handler")
Whatever is happening I do feel sorry for her.

Her insta is very odd indeed. I remember looking at something the other day, but before I'd read about any of these theories, and thinking "what the hell". It didn't occur to me that she was in trouble but it seemed very strange.

I think you're right that her fans will be mostly in their 30s.

I don't think her insta was this weird some months ago.

It sounds similar to the Brian Willlson story - of the Beach Boys fame. He was eventually freed. There was also a Black Mirror episode that's similar to this scenario.

If true it's very disturbing, horrifying. It sounds like she has no friends or family supporting her human rights. Not even an ex-partner who is championing her rights. What's her sister's situation in all this?

If you believe that she's controlled in the way the 'fans' do, she doesn't do her own posts anyway... do they think her father/manager whoever can't see the pleas for her to wear a colour or whatever?

I feel desperately sorry for her. Whatever is going on, her behaviour is not normal for a 38 year old woman. She seems very poorly/and or damaged. Perhaps her conservatorship is abusive (as I said in a pp, the fact that she can't have her own lawyer doesn't sit well with me at all) or perhaps she really does need thoroughly protecting from herself.

I believe there is a hearing coming up in court. Perhaps that will shed some light on what's really going on!

I read that she was forced into a mental hospital for 3 months early last year as she was spotted driving to a local drive thru burger place which is a big no no according to the terms of her conservator ship. She acts odd in her instagram I'm assuming because she is heavily medicated

Yes @GreyGardens88 She's not allowed to drive whilst under the conservatorship. I'm not sure why. Medication making her unsafe to drive, maybe?

Her insta was pretty normal (for a celeb) basically lots of promo stuff, the odd picture with her kids, until she took her break last year (when she also went/was forced into the hospital). After that, it's been weird.

Yes, I'm a fan and I am 31, so most of her fans are probably early 30's.

That video clip of her interview has seriously gave me the heebies... she’s very very unwell whatever way you look at that. Which in itself is just awful. So sad.

I'm a big Britney fan who was hooked on Perez Hilton during the mid 00s and unfortunately I think most of this is conspiracy theory nonsense. 13 years ago most of us thought she would OD any day.

The reality is she was a little girl who was pushed into an insane amount of fame and sexualisation at a young age (don't forget her original USP was that she was virgin), probably encountered a lot of dodgy people and did a lot of drugs. She then had a breakdown and now remains heavily medicated. I've seen her two or three times in concert over the last decade and she moves like an automaton - none of the grace and flair that made her among the best dancers/performers of her youth.

The men she takes up with are all users/abusers (I remember the Sam Lufti years well) who would burn through her coffers at the first chance and unfortunately her kids probably haven't grown up in the best environment - a mentally unstable mother, a series of dodgy men and vultures constantly circling their famous mother.

The point about getting her to do the baby voice because of Xtina also sounds like nonsense - Britney's singles came out first, she was the biggest star in the world. Xtina has always been a better singer (heard her last year in concert and she was incredible although is also rumoured to have had her own problems with substance abuse).

Tl;dr unfortunately I think the conservatorship is her best option.

Can someone explain to me why they're claiming she has dementia? I read about it last night and in 2008 her dad claimed she has early insert dementia and needed full time care due to lack of capacity?

Was that just an umbrella term covering various illnesses that limit capacity?

I was so confused!
