Does anyone know much about "conservatorships", legally?
The fact that Britney Spears' actions have apparently been controlled by two men (her father and a lawyer, paid a lot from Britney's estate) for over a decade seems alarming.

Not that I don’t believe that what is happening to her is outrageous. There should be a yearly review surely!! But I don’t believe she is signalling for help through her instagram. I doubt she’s even got control of it.

Poor girl. All her videos she looks manic.

Co-incidentally I watched the Open Secret documentary last night too. It's not very recent I think, but it does present the terrible facts without the Satanic window dressing that undermines so much of the info out there.

Listening to that "manager" excusing abuse as "something that just happens and it's down to the victim to make the best if it" in a "regrettable and not ideal" manner left me raging.

@OldQueen1969 no it’s several years old now, but eye opening nonetheless. It just really puts the “off the rails child star” narrative into a different context and it’s hard to look at it in the same way. And I absolutely agree - I sometimes think that all this satanic shite is a deliberate attempt to undermine the actual reality of what’s going on, but that’s a bit tinfoil hat in itself.

For the record it stands to reason that some of that will have some truth to it. Unhinged adults might well use their "esoteric" props to intimidate children because it sounds so batshit when described.

I'm a bit "Pagan" for want of another word and interested in the occult. I have been part of live public performance including blood rituals - BUT IT'S ONLY EVER BEEN IN AN ADULT SETTING - NO KIDS ALLOWED. It's been interesting but it's not part of any warped belief system, it's just boundary pushing art. I would have reported anything that endangered children in a heartbeat had I seen it, as would my friends / colleagues.

There are many tentacles to the abuse octopus and the exploitative will use any method to achieve their ends. If one discounts all such reports you throw the "babies" out with the bathwater.

The focus should be on the crimes committed not the theatrics - it's similar to terrorism - murder is murder, the cause is irrelevant.

Anyway, sorry for the de-rail. It's just a bit of a bugbear of mine, because there seems to be no middle ground or voice of reason in the subject because it is so emotive. Which is how many people get away with it.

I'm not sure why people think only a woman would have a conservator ship directive applied to them. It's pretty unusual for it to be applied to anyone, much less long term, but it exists legally because there are people who can't care for themselves in some significant way.

Not being in the US I don't know their rules but in general this sort of thing has to be reviewed from time to time.

There is another hearing in her case this month, based on Twitter. It will be interesting to see what happens then. I know little of the legal process around this but apparently it's very unusual for a conservatorship to be permanent, especially for someone so young (as she was 12 years ago).

I always thought she just had post partum depression and from what I read she originally agreed to it to protect her assets from her old manager Sam Lufti.

The more I read about this the more I believe she has been brainwashed and controlled in an abusive setup.

The sad thing is, I don't know how well she would cope with life without all the constraints and she would need extensive rehabilitation to manage the real world again. Well actually she's never had a normal life and has been used and damaged by her parents from a young age.

I never realised about her putting on the babyish singing voice because she was told to sound different to Xtina until now.

While I agree - she looks kinda terrible, it appears that she is very limited in her freedom and it is very concerning, at the same time I feel that there's a lot that we don't know. I read that she has a personality disorder - not too surprising given how she was brought up to be every mans sex dream, her family's cash cow and god knows what else. But I can imagine that she needs a lot of support. I saw that she wasn't taking her medications when the conservatorship happened and by the looks of things i'm not sure how good at self-care she is. Whether she is really getting help and support in her best interests, I don't know.

The thing that I can't get over is that she's not allowed access to her own lawyer. Someone independent that looks after her best interests. Even people in prison have access to that!

I agree it's complex though and like I said earlier without knowing the full picture which we rightly don't, it's hard to judge.

The other thing that strikes me as odd is where are all the worthy celebs? We all know how much publicity hungry celebs love a cause. Look at all the powerful women she's worked with or been known to have ties to - Madonna, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ellen De Generes to name a few. She's a huge star (or was).

They're noticeably silent despite being tagged in all number of posts about this. Makes me think that they must know something the general public don't, which is why they don't speak up to 'help'. Surely if they really thought this was some awful abusive situation they'd be right on Twitter etc campaigning.

I can't see the "call 911" in that photo but I agree with PP who said something just seems "off" based on her Insta. Her make up, hair, dancing all seems a bit strange.

There is a video on her Insta from 6 days ago where she is answering 'fan questions'. She speaks like a child (I don't mean in tone, I mean in manner), is talking really fast and she is rocking side to side the whole time she is talking. It almost is like watching a robot, there is nothing there?

I've seen that video. She looks heavily medicated to me. I think her dad encourages the little girl persona. It's sick and twisted.

Poor woman. I'd have lost my mind a long time ago. Living in lockdown for over a decade and deprived of all human rights and civil liberties. Horrific.

I had a scroll through the IG videos earlier. She does speak in a very childlike way and with an odd voice. She was always quite softly spoken in interviews before.

I also noticed that the vast majority of her clothes modelled on her little catwalks are very 00's fashion, lots of super low rise shorts, tiny/tight (too small, boobs squashing out!) tops etc. The fashions that were in when she was at the top of her game I distinctly remember as she is the same age as me and I used to wear stuff like that. It's like she's stuck in a time warp.

I don't say that to be mean, obviously she can wear whatever the hell she likes and good luck to her, but it is odd.

I don't know about anyone from Jersey Shore but both Miley and Lindsay have experienced the dark side of the industry as child stars. Probably they know the people involved seeing as they're from a similar era.

I don't think she is forced to work though is she? She hasn't done anything in well over a year, since her Vegas residency ended and she went back into hospital. No music, not even so much as a perfume ad. She's been 'taking a break' for ages and even her manager has said he doesn't know if or when she'll work again.

If she wasn't on social media I doubt anyone would have seen hide nor hair of her for a while.

She did set her gym on fire though, apparently left lit candles unattended.
