How can this be true? He has admitted the crimes and yet isn't sacked? These are the people demanding access to women's changing rooms and toilets.

The council will have a code of contact for councillors as set out in the local government act.
They also must have a Monitoring officer - usually head of legal services but might be another senior officer or director.
They should also have constituted a Standards Committee.
Anyone living in the area should write to the Monitoring officer to say that this councillors actions have brought the council into disrepute and request that he investigates the matter and convened a standards committee to look into it.
Also complain to the leader of the political party he is affiliated to.
Write to your local councillor/s and complain he is bringing the council into disrepute.
He can / and should be suspended from office.
I once saw a community councillor on fb verbally abusing a council employee (who was only doing their job) he also made comments about this persons disability.
That got referred to the above process and he was either suspended for a fixed period or removed from office or resigned - can’t recall exactly.

Public pressure is the only thing that is going to make him go as he is an independent, other than custodial sentence.

There are likely to be very few if any council meetings before his sentencing. Hopefully he goes to prison so is disqualified.

Really? There are no sex offenders anywhere else? Where's the perfect place that you live where sex offenders don't exist? Or where the local council breaks the law just because a minute bunch of people on Mumsnet think it should?

It may be the Daily Fail, but even the article managed to get the facts correct. The law says that councillors cannot be removed except in certain circumstances, and those circumstances have not (yet) been met. The individual concerned may not have the decency to resign, but that's on him, not the council.

He pleaded guilty, so the rules need to be amended so that he can at least be suspended.
