Reddit Hate Subs

Hi ladies. I was looking at FDS earlier and apparently Reddit have banned/quarantined a lot of their repulsive subreddits that are full of hatred towards women. I won't link the picture that showed the names of the subreddits because it's disturbing and you probably already know the ones I'm talking about. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction although the cynic in me believes they're doing it to save face instead of having an overwhelmingly need to protect women from rape and abuse.

My question is: How do you feel about this? I personally think they sat on their hands too long and that website has already proven how much they hate women considering they allowed the incel community to thrive and are in a way responsible for the murders of some women. Thanks again.

I think they already showed their priorities by banning and intimidating women first. If getting rid of rape and abuse boards is only their second or third thought after shutting women up, they can fuck off, the despicable misogynists.

There was a lot of discussion on twitter about the hypocrisy of this - I'm wondering if this is finally making an impact. I also tweeted at the owner of reddit a couple of times ... who knows?

I agree completely and thank you for replying. The whole site is just a mess. Time for it to disappear I think but something worse will probably pop up in its place. A lot of women wrote to people who advertise on Reddit and that's one of the main reasons they banned those horrible subs because of money basically.

Here's My statement:

Good. May they go further and get rid of all hate subreddits.

Someone already posted the list on another thread.

Not sure what quarantine is meant to do. I mean, the fact the incest and rape confessions weren't banned immediately speaks volumes.

I think the only reason they have done this to a tiny number of the vile, misogynistic, perverted subs is because of the backlash for silencing women. Trying to prove they are being equal. Because it seems women taking about their rights or health issues is the same as men's wank fantasies about murder or paedophilia.

There's some really despicable stuff on Reddit which I'd be happy to see disappear but it's also difficult because one person's "hate speech" is another person's "free speech" as we've all experienced.

I'm fascinated by online communities and frequently check out notorious ones to see what goes on there. I got quite deep into one of the Reddit incel forums called r/braincels which was banned a while ago. There was some horrible, misogynistic stuff on there but actually it was not as bad as I imagined it would be. It was primarily a lot of very sad, desperate men talking about how unattractive they are to women. They would talk about "red pilled" and "black pilled" where black pilled essentially means realising you are so unattractive that you will never have a girlfriend/family/happy life and so you might as well just end it all. I actually felt quite sorry for some of them to be honest.

So in conclusion, yes I'm happy to see this shit disappear but I do think the story is sometimes more nuanced (e.g. as in the "transphobic" subs) than it may appear.
