I don’t know if this has already been posted but I couldn’t see a thread & a warning in advance, you’ll need eye bleach

Posting because of yesterday’s discussion on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3963159-A-question-for-Transmen-and-Transwomen

About lesbians and in particular the idea that it was fine to redefine the word lesbian to include TW and that there seemed to be no thought given to where that would lead

It’s utterly horrific to read. I knew it was bad but bloody hell, I hadn’t realised just how bad it was

How HOW can stonewall and all the other LGBT orgs out there consistently fail to condemn this & hand wave away The concerns lesbians are raising?

I saw a whole thread full of tons of straight men being accused of trans phobia for not wanting to sleep with trans women before or after op. The men were not having it.
Lesbians sorely need people to back them up.

It is horrific kit19

And i am more than happy to accept that there are some lesbians who haven't had any of these comments made to them

But it obviously happens, I don’t get how people can say it doesn’t happen or hasn’t happened to enough people to be important

Kit19 That was horrifying to read.

I noticed this at the bottom of the page:

"It’s also worth noting that research has shown lesbians are actually more likely to date a trans person than gay men or straight people are, yet bullying is overwhelmingly targeted at lesbians. The authors of the linked study singled lesbians out as troubling because we were twice as likely to say we would date a female person (who identifies as a man) than give the ‘correct’ answer of saying we would date a male person (who identifies as a woman)."^

This is the study. I haven't read it all but page 21-24 was an interesting in terms of their conclusions of how to break down barriers.
