Annual Ride For Murdered Women - 11th July 2020 - 1pm

From Jean Hatchet's blog:

... I ride my bike to honour the lives of women murdered as a result of domestic abuse. The women I ride for were killed by men who were current or former intimate partners or family members. I have so far ridden my bike for 324 women murdered since 2016 and approximately 8300 miles.

... This year on 11th July 2020 I'd really like women to join me - again for just one ride. It will be socially distanced due to Covid 19. It's sad that we can't ride together as we did last year but hopefully, we can still honour the women as well as we would have done. Let's celebrate their lives as well as remember the brutal way in which they were cruelly murdered.

Is this on Facebook anywhere?

stumbledin · 09/07/2020 17:29

I saw it on facebook but just as a link to the web site.

And a bit strange that join up is via twitter - which sort of cuts down how many will join as it is the least used social media platform! (But loved by journalist looking for a quick shock horror story.)

I seem to remember it was the same last time which is a shame as I am sure more would join up if it was on facebook.

I’ll be looking out for the ladies in red

There are so many.

For anyone like me who is a non-bike-rider there are suggestions on the blog on how to join in, will be walking, and donating.

It was great doing a cycle ride with lots of excellent feminists, even with such a somber reason. Shame I'm working this year #Solidarity

I cant find anything on facebook and there are no contact details on the web site.

Is it against mumsnetiquette to @ jeanhatchett if you have a query? (she used to post here)

Its a bit short notice but we can all share this on whatever networks we are part of (where it would be appropriate).
