Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What are the other sexes?

We're being told constantly that there is a spectrum of human sex (not gender, that's at about 4396 variations at last count). Sex.

I know of:

  1. male
  2. female

Can we start asking what all the others are called please?
I mean the rainbow is a spectrum and I can name all the colours...

It would certainly be strange if no one could answer past those first two.

The homophobic pseudo sex cloaked in racist 'noble savage' mysticism, is what I personally call the third one, but it's a bit long.

Thelnebriati · 07/07/2020 13:01

The third one is for men that don't fit into the man box, isn't it. Women just have to learn camouflage.

Winesalot · 07/07/2020 13:02

I know, I'm really hungry for fish and chips, but we just got locked down again for 6 weeks, sob.

That is tough. I really like to go to the Portsea pub whenever I am down that way. That is a great place to have fish & chips. Hopefully, all will be well for you though.

terryleather · 07/07/2020 13:59

Where is the third gamete????

And yes the "third sex" box seen in some indigenous cultures would seem to be the place you put the gnc gay men.

I have very limited science knowledge so can't vouch for its veracity but I read this somewhere;

"If sex were a spectrum, it would follow a normal distribution with most of us around the middle and very few at the extremes, whereas the opposite of this is found. Sex is binary with a few developmental errors"

I am sick to the back teeth of everything being poisoned by PoMo/Queer & Critical Theory with its "discourses" pish and its utter contempt for material reality. I can feel myself lose IQ points when I read it.

Human bodies are sexed for reproduction. Humans only need two gametes to do that. Why the fuck would there need to be third, fourth, fifth sexes? Oh..no wait..I see... they are magicked into existence by the "discourses" farted out by the woke, which pretty much boils down to "Sex is a spectrum because I said so".

PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg · 07/07/2020 14:06

The third gamete is spergs, bigots! Or possibly speggs.

I believe slugs are involved somehow, too.

Got caught down here visiting my grown up kid in a non hotspot, so still working out the whole going home thing. Will pass on the Portsea tip!

Well slime mould has 720 sexes but unfortunately no brain.

Has it got blue hair though?
wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 07/07/2020 14:30

I believe blue hair and no brain are often found together.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/07/2020 14:32

When I was a wee'un I actually thought that Middlesex was a third sex and people who were neither male nor female lived there.

Deliriumoftheendless · 07/07/2020 14:36

1.Male
2.Female
3.David Bowie
4.Annie Lennox

?

talkingdeadscot · 07/07/2020 14:40

Whilst having a 'discussion' about sex and gender I was reliably informed that although most people have XX or XY chromosomes there were also variables such as XXY or XXYY. Surprisingly once I asked for evidence of this a flounce ensued.

This explains a lot...
JayAlfredPrufrock · 07/07/2020 15:05

Oh Margaret. I’m disappointed.

Middlesex was a good book.

TyroSaysMeow · 07/07/2020 19:35

there were also variables such as XXY or XXYY

Yep. The first is Klinefelter's; I'm not sure what name the second goes by. People with either of these conditions are male, not the mysterious third sex, as a cursory glance at google will confirm. The Y's the clue.

MondayYogurt · 07/07/2020 19:53

Indeed.

"The appearance of at least one Y chromosome with a properly functioning SRY gene makes a male. Therefore, humans with XXYY are genotypically male."

So I'm my maths is correct, we're at:

  1. Female
  2. Male

But how can this be?! We've been told repeatedly that human sex is a spectrum! When are the other human sexes going to appear?

I read on an article posted here that for some people - procreation required three gametes:

1.Egg
2.Sperm
3.Alcohol.

I think a fair few of us will recognise the contribution of No 3 to our reproduction output.

But there literally is nothing else. No. 3 is the nearest thing we have. And yet we are still binary.
