From facebook:

“We are the mods of the radical feminist subreddit r/GenderCritical. Since we were banned by Reddit we have been working hard to get our community together again. We are happy to announce that, with some amazing new volunteers, we are busily working on a new site which will restore our opportunity to speak freely about issues that concern women, including male violence, prostitution, pornography – and the growing impacts of gender identity upon women’s hard-won rights. It will have the format we enjoyed before, but this time, we will own the website and the data. No one will be able to take it from us again. It will be bigger in scope than r/gendercritical. If you're looking for a new home for your community, it may be an option for you. We are working out the details. Please note: we are NOT raising any funds at this time.”

I thought the PCOS Reddit had been set to private?

Good news re GC. I don't post there - I'm not rad from enough - but I do read there, and wish the unfairly maligned GCers all the best.

HeistSociety · 07/07/2020 01:22

*rad fem

Barracker · 07/07/2020 01:45

Great news.

They should call it Banndit.com

I'll sign up this time, missed out when it was still Reddit/GC

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/07/2020 02:00

Love that suggestion, Barracker!

madwoman1ntheattic · 07/07/2020 02:17

I’ll join if it’s called banndit.com. Grin

I am angriest about the loss of the peak trans threads, up to the seventh iteration if I recall correctly. So many women's stories wiped out without any warning. Fuck you if you think this is the "right side of history".

HeistSociety · 07/07/2020 04:50

Pretty sure those threads were archived.

lydiamajora · 07/07/2020 05:16

I hope so, because they were invaluable.

worstwitch18 · 07/07/2020 05:32

The PCOS subreddit has not been banned but the women on it were suffering so much abuse from men that the moderators set it to private (basically invitation only).

Obviously saidit is just a stop gap for now but they're trying to continue the conversation here:

There's also a link there to the archived stories

(Trying to avoid saying p*k tr*s)

EdgeOfACoin · 07/07/2020 06:04

Link to archived Reddit GC p*k tr*s treads:

Newlittle · 07/07/2020 06:08

Sorry if this has been covered, but why did r/gendercritical get removed? I don't see it mentioned upthread.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 07/07/2020 08:38

My post got deleted because of an acronym that is also a shortened form of Timothy. Are MTT or MTF ok? Whatever MN. Please don't delete this post if either of those is unacceptable, just remove the offending acronym if you have to and it's a bit harsh giving me a strike when this lingo is forever policed changing.. I'll repeat though.

Reddit is basically full of incels. I used to frequent a sub there called A bra that fits which is basically a bra intervention board. It is now overrun with MTFs faux innocently asking about their "first bra".

MonsteraCheeseplant · 07/07/2020 08:41

@Newlittle Because it was woman run, female dominated and spoke about biology in no uncertain terms. It's not just because it was GC, because gendercriticalguys remains. I wouldn't be surprised if the PCOS sub goes the same way. Reddit is run by transcels.

KingOfDogShite · 07/07/2020 08:44

Those archive threads are amazing.

Oxyiz · 07/07/2020 09:10

It was mainly removed because it didn't centre men or trans ideology. An awful lot of Redditors hated the place, and coincidentally an awful lot of Redditors are young men.

Women on there stated clearly that people couldn't change sex. They said that women still needed single sex spaces. They spoke at length about the trans people who had abused them or the trans ideology that reduced women into wishy-washy theoretical concepts and stereotypes. They posted articles and discussions on the topic in general. They were brilliant in that respect.

Having said that it wasn't perfect (for me at least) and I left it earlier this year. For me personally, Mumsnet seems more balanced and has a better overall feel and tone to it, possibly because many posters here have families of their own.

spongedog · 07/07/2020 14:24

Signing up here to make sure I hear about it.

EyesOpening · 07/07/2020 15:36

wow, there's some scary stuff on there! saidit.net/s/GenderCritical/comments/58ai/saidit_peak_trans_i_please_continue_to_share_your/

EyesOpening · 07/07/2020 15:38

@yellowsunset

They've banned the pcos subreddit too :(. Which has probably peaked loads more women, the opposite effect to what they want.
I hope it peaks even more people!
