It's a brutal shitstorm now, twitter is a piranha frenzy.
Let's breathe and rest.
The transitioning brainwashing aimed at children is a scandal about to break wide open.
Women's spaces will be fought over with blood and tears.
Don't give up hope.
Rest when you need to.
Help me write a birthday card for JK. I'm a painter, I'm going to illustrate it.
Tell me what you want to say inside it.
Tell me what images you want in the picture.

Breathe.
Stay safe.
Stay strong.

I’ve just been reading this.
mobile.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-06/my-brain-on-nature-healing-sarah-allely/12266522

Trees and water and a quiet path meandering up a hill might be something we all need - especially if the pandemic has us isolated at home.

Fearandsurprise · 06/07/2020 04:45

I’m thinking something related to the Order of the Phoenix.

PumbaasCucumbas · 06/07/2020 07:17

Maybe some subtle suffragette reference (courage calls to courage/suffragette colours)?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 06/07/2020 07:30

Lovely post to read at the beginning of the week. And so important to rest and recuperate. Thank you Flowers

JellySlice · 06/07/2020 07:34

Solidity. The island in the storm. Sunshine. Courage calls to courage.

My favourite characters among the children of Hogwarts have always been Luna and Neville. They were misfits, mocked and excluded for not conforming. Yet they stood firm, calmly defending their principles and supporting others. Solid.

purpleboy · 06/07/2020 07:52

This is lovely to read, your words have calmed my frenzied brain this morning. Thank you and will you show us your work when it's done? Thanks

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 06/07/2020 07:57

Thank you.

I've been told off on Twitter for using male pronouns for a trans ally who has always been open about being a dysphoric man. Not a problem until yesterday. And have had to block some GC voices.

Your post has reminded me to take a break. Thank you.

littlbrowndog · 06/07/2020 08:00

Courage calls to courage.

These words always calms me

12boo · 06/07/2020 08:01

I deactivated my account yesterday and I'm so close to getting sucked back in.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 06/07/2020 08:02

Solidarity 💪

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 06/07/2020 08:06

I've logged out. Blessed peace 🙏

12boo · 06/07/2020 08:10

Yes I'll
Definitely stay away for a while, need a break.
But JKROWLING is a goddess and I feel a need to show solidarity with her

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 06/07/2020 08:13

Courage calls to courage for sure, I love those words and they are so, so true.

Ginnyhip46 · 06/07/2020 09:40

I'll definitely show you the card. Also add some of the things you would like to say and I will work it all into a long piece of writing that will go inside. It might have a few pages in it. I'll make it beautiful for her I promise.

We must all rest as much as we can this week and try and keep our energy strong. I think the good and decent trans people will start to rise up in defence of kids, I think the vocal hate voices like Bergdorf and Jameela will be undone by the ghosts of their sordid pasts and I think the papers will be scared but then forced into action by the medical profession and parents. It's big. But we can do this. If we rest and stay bright.

Thank you Ginny, what a wonderful idea. How can we contribute- financially?

Ginnyhip46 · 06/07/2020 09:49

Please no need to. But buy some lovely HP things! Or give to Lumos!

I will definitely give to lumos xx

And both have been supportive - Lovely Evanna hounded off Twitter and Matthew is reading this latest chapter of HP.

I've donated to Lumos in JKR's name. She is amazing.

ToriaPumpkin · 06/07/2020 16:36

What a wonderful idea. The suffragette colours were purple and green, weren't they? Could that be worked into a border?

I've had to step back today as it was making my brain ache so thank you for this post. I will also donate to Lumos, and my children are in a full on HP phase so I'm sure I can squeeze a few more books or merchandise into our house!

OldeMagick · 06/07/2020 18:11

I also think a Suffragette based card would be amazing and appropriate.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 06/07/2020 19:28

This was good to read.

I have just had a reply from my SNP MP & I want to cry with rage for his utter disregard for the safety of women “the organisations that will only get scotgov funding if they are “trans inclusive” all say it’s fine” Angry
“it’s just making it easier there’s no change” etc etc Angry

JK is a shining light in the depths of darkness.

Ginnyhip46 · 07/07/2020 16:55

Definitely going to make various references to all of the suggestions in here if I can. I feel that doing is as a sort of book with writing in will definitely help it get to her directly. If you have any poems or words of thanks I can illustrate them and put them in. I think there's moments where we all want to cry with rage and hurt. I was having a conversation today with a friend who was saying that we are being painted with being transphobic rather than questioning, that we are seen as hateful rather than trying to protect our children. Even though JK is saying over and over she stands with transwomen she's still getting vilified and demonised. I want her to know that even if it was only us who supported her - that it would mean something.
I know if I said anything on my Facebook I'd be hauled through the coals. I'm having to have secret reasonable conversations with friends. It churns me up. Of course I want transwomen and transmen to feel safe. I don't operate from hate. But I won't stand down whilst watching women being thrown to the wolves. So I look for the ways I can feel strong 💪 by writing letters and making art and supporting you fine women.

I wake up each day and wonder how we got to this stage and how will sense ever return.

Is this a fight we are going to lose?
Help me to keep positive

Ginnyhip46 · 07/07/2020 17:08

JK has been shining a light in the darkness for so many of us for so many years. When I was a single parent with a baby I used to think about her and she would inspire me to write. If it hadn't been for her I wouldn't have had something to look towards or any sense that I could make it. I carried her dedication like an amulet against discouragement. She showed me that someone could break through out of nowhere and make something so beautiful it changed the entire world of publishing and reinvented the fantasy and children's and teens genres. David Walliams wouldn't have books out if it wasn't for her. Neil Gaiman wouldn't have made Coraline. A load of writers suddenly saw the children's genre as worthy. But none of them came close to her. My 60 year old partner came through yesterday after listening to all of the books on audio - he'd just finished them. He sat on the bed with his eyes all tearful and said "That was something else."

I've seen authors on twitter saying they are going to get as famous as her and erase her.

None of them would have had a shot without her. So she will always be the gold in the distance I shoot my arrow to. She's a living legend and she proves time and time again that she will not bow to the bullies. So we must rest and get strong and send her our light.
