Perhaps unsurprisingly as it concerns a legal case brought by a lawyer, rollonfriday has picked up the story.

The comments are great. Although I wouldn't be surprised if I trigger a TRA pile on by posting this here.

Great article!

bishopgiggles · 03/07/2020 16:04

That's a refreshingly honest account! Especially describing "holding gender critical beliefs, the core of which is that biological sex is immutable and people cannot change sex" rather than making up that they're "anti-trans views"

WTFSeriously · 03/07/2020 16:04

Owen Jones "probably didn't donate" 😂

JinnyTheWitch · 03/07/2020 16:07

The comments are mostly extremely positive about Allison's position.

One of the very few negative ones cited a 'Vox' article. Another commenter quoted from it, in 'wtf?' terms,

“According to Heron Greenesmith, who studies the modern gender-critical movement as a senior research associate with the social justice think tank Political Research Associates, gender-critical feminism in the UK grew out of a toxic mix of historical imperialism and the influence of the broader UK skeptical movement”.

It's just such utter bollocks. I'm a Greenham Common woman and did I fuck grow out of historical imperialism and 'the UK skeptical movement'.

Jesus, just let women be women.

I love that article. Roll on Friday has a good history of being gender critical (it's also written about the flying lawyer, Hayden, in not-too-glowing terms).

madwoman1ntheattic · 03/07/2020 17:06

Ha. Yeah the mn monitors have noticed now so the unhinged comments are starting to appear.
May I also note how much it makes me laugh to see the term ‘willy’ bandied about in commentary over a legal case. Grin I haven’t heard willy in YEARS. Grin

miri1985 · 03/07/2020 17:09

There was also an article about it for subscribers to thelawyer.com during the week www.thelawyer.com/barrister-slams-legal-crowdfunding-platform-in-transgender-rights-row/?cmpid=dnews_14668742&adg=87B02561-911C-4282-BA04-15DBE651F931

It's actually being discussed in two places on RoF - in the dedicated discussion forum and under the news article. The TRAs have turned up with 'LGB Nazi Alliance' accusations and are currently being used as chew-toys by a lot of lawyers who are very bored on a Friday afternoon. Glorious.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 03/07/2020 18:36

Makes me laugh when they make being gender critical out to be some tiny fringe group of feminists, instead of the 99% of the population that doesn't pray at the church of gender ideology.

Nicetoolshed · 03/07/2020 18:41

.

fascinated · 03/07/2020 18:43

I love RoF

TheSingingKettle49 · 03/07/2020 18:59

One of the comments say trans rights don’t affect women’s rights, 🤦🏽‍♀️ errr in that case why do women need rights? Do they think we’re discriminated against because of how we feel? Or do they think that there’s so little difference between a man in a dress and an actual woman that when transwomen go for job interviews people will assume they can might pregnant or menstruate? Talk about male privilege!

NotTerfNorCis · 03/07/2020 19:15

It's astonishing how aggressive and powerful the trans lobby is. No way can they claim to be oppressed.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/07/2020 19:51

The comments are great
“This really sounds like a group of people who can't stand the fact that another group of people are not attracted to them.
On a side note, I am suing Mila Kunis for not being attracted to me.” Grin
