I've never listened to talk radio before - does it have a particular slant?

At the moment I'm enjoying listening to a sensible grown up conversation.

Julia Hartley Brewer, who is on in the morning, is very pro women and anti-self ID. You can Google her interview with Lily Madigan.

And it's very good - presenter knows his stuff

It's worth listening to the whole programme (from 1pm) as the presenter has made some very good points and read out a lot of comments.

Currently he is not getting any twitter abuse for daring to step into this debate. I wonder why that could be?

Not a single dissenter dared to ring in. As one caller said, we are talking about 'people sitting in their pants in their basements'.

I used to listen to Ian Collins when he did the late night slot on TalkSport, taking over from James Whale. He always talked a lot of sense and I’ve seen him on Twitter asking questions on this topic before.

What coherent arguement could they muster? Other than, you're literally killing trans people!, We fucking SAID no debate!?

I just started listening too about 5 minutes ago. This is such an amazing presentation of the issue. Everyone interested should listen to this.

It’s not though, so many media people disagree with her. If it was just losers in basements then it wouldn’t be so worrying.

I have discovered so many other radio stations beyond R4 since following this (lack of) debate. The just need to do a few more interesting documentaries and informative programmes and I will be cured.

It was Radio 4 that peaked me (at least one of the major peaks; it seems to be ongoing, still)

Where are Radcliffe, Watson, Lynch etc now? Seems they can dish it out on Twitter when they have the pitchfork-waving mob behind them, but enter into a rational and intellectual discussion on the air...? Not so much.

Indeed, PirateWeasel, I would pay good money to listen to a squirming Radcliffe try to justify his sanctimonious, pompous condemnation of JKR to the presenter and guests on this show!

Can I listen without blowing my blood pressure? I’ve had a lot on my plate recently and don’t want to be ripped completely!

Of course they won’t ring in as first they’d need to get dressed and brush their teeth. Then they’d need to arrange the baying mob they have behind them on all online debates. Then remember not to swear and find a coherent argument of which there is none.

So best to stick to Twitter.

That was brilliant! I was jumping up and down during Marion's call - it sad so nice to hear women get views across without being attacked.

How dare people call JKR or women's groups like FWS hateful? That was just common sense.
