Thanks for posting. He’s been a supporter of JKR on twitter.

Well done that man!

Pleased to hear Momentum may be splintering. They are an absolute liability.

This was a good piece, thanks for posting.

Really good piece. And he's spot on about the pathetic little hatemeister general. He's just so exhaustingly unpleasant to anyone with whom he disagrees - in my experience, always a sign of utter mediocrity.

But as moderates in places like Brighton, Liverpool and Haringey can tell you — and as Neil Kinnock’s battle with Militant Tendency reminds us — there isn’t a deal to be done with the far left... The far left thrives on the adrenaline rush of an out-of-control street protest. It likes nothing better than to colonise an inchoate movement with a genuine grievance.

This applies to any extreme ideology, and to any ideology taken up by extremists and armchair warriors.

And I would also say the reverse is true: It likes nothing better than to colonise a genuine movement with an inchoate grievance.

Unfortunately I don't believe that the extremists will eat themselves. Unless they are effectively withstood, they will take control, to everyone's detriment. It's only once they've taken control that they will eat themselves, as extremists are incapable of working together. Everything is a power struggle, and everyone else is collateral damage.

Yes, that sentence struck me too and I agree that it is once they start to gain control that they 'eat themselves'.

There seems to be a phase of gathering momentum, flow, where no one can question anything. Like he says, the adrenaline of a campaign.

But too much damage waiting for it too end.
