www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/jk-rowling-3000-messages-trans-row-domestic-abuse-a4482486.html Not sure if this has already been posted but it's going to be read by a lot of people in the UK tomorrow. No comments yet but would be good to support this lovely article about JK. Sorry if it's already been posted.

Thats the best article I've read in a long time.

PuppyLove2000 · 29/06/2020 02:38

I know right? I'm hoping it's absorbed by a lot of folk and more of this thing happens.

Wow.

Only one comment, but the usual nonsense:

"She has also been quite rightly called out on her transphobia, not least by the author Stephen King. She has, sadly, been suckered by a trans-hate group called "LGB Alliance" who are nothing of the sort since they seem to hate Bi people too. I really had hoped that we as a society had moved beyond the need to pile hatred and bile on to minorities. But while we have flag-waving bigots like Rowling leading the charge, I guess there’s still a lot of work to do."

What's this about SK "calling her out" on her "transphobia"? He retweeted one of her Twitter comments and then said TWAW. Is that what counts as backtracking these days?

Sorry @Lamahaha I was a bit slow off the mark there Grin

I'm glad the article didn't describe JKR's comments as "controversial". I've been sick of seeing that word, even in commentary sympathetic to JKR. There's nothing controversial about stating biological facts and saying women have periods - outside of woke spheres anyway. Branding ordinary words that every day humans use as "controversial" just feels like a form of conditioning/brain washing.

I'm very happy to have been one of the 3000. She is a lioness, but I can't imagine how hurt she must have been by the dweebs Radcliffe and Watson, so glad she found strength in all the messages she received from ordinary women. It took a lot of courage to come back to Twitter and reply to the odious Russell- Moyle with such grace.

That comment may have been deleted/removed? As it says "0 comments" under article for me.

Yes the article is actually realistic unlike so many others. Once again, thank you JKR.

Funny, we had an attempted derailer in this section who kept banging on about LGB Alliance hating bi people.

I think the comment has been deleted.

Siablue · 29/06/2020 07:42

It is a good article because it stick to the facts and reports what she said. Many people read the ES so people who haven’t seen her blog post and just heard about the transphobia can read it and then be informed .

KetoWinnie · 29/06/2020 07:43

Maximum respect to JK
I love her.

When she spoke up for single parents as well, that helped me mentally. Im glad she is not backing down.

Speaks volumes who she had letters of thanks from.

KetoWinnie · 29/06/2020 07:45

Yes good point, articles decribing her comments as "controversial", so gaslighty

crumpet · 29/06/2020 08:05

Thanks for flagging - good article

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/06/2020 08:16

One nice comment now.

Vinosaurus · 29/06/2020 08:36

Yes the comment has been removed - would imagine the reference to LGB alliance being a "hate group" probably did it.

Lamahaha · 29/06/2020 08:45

The new comment is brilliant: succinct and just stating what the facts.

Winesalot · 29/06/2020 10:12
