www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/body/transgender-diary-women-have-huge-privilege-compared-transwomen/

I think DT manages to be both racist and sexist this week.

OP posts:
CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/06/2020 15:55

Oh, so he really DID say he understood the issues of being black, cos he is trans. He really did.

And he can call himself what he wants. The rest if the world can choose not to.

Self centered fuckwittery...

LookAtTheCahhOlivahhhhh · 28/06/2020 15:55

Poor thing, missing out on 30 years of being harassed for being a woman.
I had no idea that being normal, feminine and unthreatening would protect me from all that. Darn this silly little woman brain!

bluebluezoo · 28/06/2020 15:56

Fucking hell. They really don’t get that this is what women face every day, do they?

They really think women walk around without a care in the world, while catcalling, harrassment and violence is only rained down on transwomen.

Unbelievable.

JemimaShore · 28/06/2020 15:57

I find it fascinating that an MRA (as OvaHere said, this person wrote a book about men's rights some years ago) - has actually decided to transition into a woman. MRAs are indistinguishable from TRAs these days.

Man lives for 60 years, successful writing career as a male, marries, has children, divorces, then decides he should have been a woman all along, and transitions. And spews a thinly disguised sexist narrative in the Telegraph - all about clothes and makeup, and "budding breasts" Envy - and claims not only that he now knows all about the reality of being a woman, but ALSO that he more oppressed than women. (see also: Jane Fae)

It's really quite grim.

CatandtheFiddle · 28/06/2020 15:58

Transwomen face sky-high rates of harassment, abuse and violence

I wonder how that writer would define:

  • Average of 2 women murdered each week by domestic partners/ex-partners
  • Lifetime loss in earnings of at least 15% compared with men
  • Misogyny not a hate crime
  • Women & girls' ordinary everyday experience of harassment, catcalling, "minor" sexual assault (flashing etc)
  • Only 2% of rapists ever convicted

And how many women in the UK are made redundant while pregnant?

CatandtheFiddle · 28/06/2020 15:59

Conclusion:

The only way you can assert that transwomen are the most oppressed is if you ignore the everyday experience of women and girls.

Mrsmorton · 28/06/2020 15:59

In the immortal words of Magdalen Berns. Fuck off you wanker.

Fanthorpe · 28/06/2020 16:01

I find this conflation of racism with ‘transphobia’ really hard to understand.

SerendipityJane · 28/06/2020 16:02

TL;DR: Is a whingey It's your fault you can't call a square a circle

Kimlek · 28/06/2020 16:03

Thanks for posting the whole article. They are right though, I for one definitely don’t see how women are privileged women are underprivileged when compared with men, they have a huge privilege compared to transwomen. I’m not sure that they understand, or acknowledge, that privilege

AnyFucker · 28/06/2020 16:03

Why is he making a direct comparison between transwomen and women ?

They are not the same thing.

june2007 · 28/06/2020 16:04

In the fact there actually women?

Kimlek · 28/06/2020 16:06

God help our daughters!!!

ShowOfHands · 28/06/2020 16:10

Never happened?

Try happened since the age of 11 when I developed secondary sexual characteristics. Try groped on public transport. Try flashed. Try catcalled. Try demeaned. Try asked in a job interview if my husband approves of me working full time. Try erect cocks pressed against me on a packed underground. Try being called frigid because I said no. Try seeing your 12yr old daughter hassled and touched.

Take my privilege. Fucking take it.

SerendipityJane · 28/06/2020 16:14

@Fanthorpe

I find this conflation of racism with ‘transphobia’ really hard to understand.
It's all to do with the art of catching passing bandwagons. Last year it was polar bears.

I read somewhere someone describe TWAW as the equivalent of a homeopathic women.

SocialConnection · 28/06/2020 16:18

Oddly enough, it's ever since I stopped looking 'normal, feminine and unthreatening' - ie over 50, menopausal and angry - that the harassment stopped.

If you're AGP, this is exactly what you want.
OliveKitteridgeAgain · 28/06/2020 16:34

They always resort to the analogy of being black. Racist and not the same thing at all. A Black American doesn't need to bend reality to be considered an American. They just are. A black woman doesn't need to bend reality to be considered a woman. She just is one. A seahorse is not a horse. A transwoman is not a woman.

TabbyStar · 28/06/2020 16:38

And since all major league sportsmen and women in the USA have a university education, they’re doing so with an intelligence that matches their passion and rage.

Let's also add elitist / classist; how can anyone who's not gone to university ever sound intelligent?Confused

blackpoe · 28/06/2020 16:38

@2Rebecca

A lot of TRAs spout that nonsense. They're keen to win the "most oppressed of all" medal. This person could have stayed a white middle class male if they were concerned about privilege
This. They have a choice whether to play their silly little games. Women don't.
DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 28/06/2020 16:43

Something that has really pissed me off recently is I have noticed that transwomen are the centre of every humans rights movement.

Lots of my friends posting about BLM - multiple posts about how we must centre black transwomen in BLM. 0 posts about black women, 0 posts about black transmen

Pride yesterday -we must centre black transwomen, again multiple posts about transwomen. Nothing about lesbians (unless they are transwomen), nothing about black transmen (who apparently dont seem to exist)

Womens rights - we must centre transwomen.

Evens trans rights are only about transwomen. They really are pushing the oppression olympics, youd think when every single humans rights movement is supposed to be putting you at the centre you might start to gain some privelage

Blibbyblobby · 28/06/2020 16:45

But as a trans woman, even one with nice clothes, a great surgeon and fancy hair, I never, ever entirely lose the awareness and anxiety that comes with confronting a world that I know can be very hostile indeed.

WELCOME TO FUCKING WOMANHOOD - HOPE YOU LIKE YOUR PRIZE!

Onestepup · 28/06/2020 16:46

Transwomen

WOMEN face sky-high rates of harassment, abuse and violence. It has happened to me and to most women. It doesn't only happen once, the possibility is always there, and part of my mind is permanently engaged in the job of trying to avoid it. But conforming to someone else's definition of "normal, feminine and unthreatening" are not my job nor any other woman's.

Doyoumind · 28/06/2020 16:47

Every time someone posts about that diary I find it creepy, yes, but totally laughable. No one surely reads it as they intend it to be read. I particularly loved "as a trans woman, even one with nice clothes, a great surgeon and fancy hair." No one looks and sees a woman. No one.

Onestepup · 28/06/2020 16:48

"as a trans woman, even one with nice clothes, a great surgeon and fancy hair"

Female is a sex, not an obligation to be an airhead.
