Women's Place UK

The Film Director, Vaishnavi Sundar, will be talking to writer and activist, Gita Sahgal, about Vaishnavi's important documentary, But What was she wearing?

We are excited and honoured to be hosting this live online discussion on Sunday 28 June at 17.00 BST.

Register (free) on Eventbrite for the discussion. Once you have registered, you will receive an email giving you a link to rent the film at a special reduced rate beforehand. Vaishnavi will receive all the viewing fees to support her to continue with her work. You will also be invited to send questions or comments to WPUK and to watch the live discussion on Zoom.

Worth noting that Vaishnavi, an Indian woman, is being 'cancelled' by woke, lib fem organisations in the West because she is well acquainted with the realities of women's sex based oppressions and isn't afraid to use her platform as a film director and activist to highlight these issues.
Liberal feminism and queer theory are the very embodiment of privileged, insular, pampered children playing games with imaginary 'identities' and pretending they are terribly clever grown-ups with their incoherent ramblings and navel gazing when they know absolutely nothing about the real world.

Anyway, putting aside my mini rant...

Fantastic, thanks Nonny. I didn't realise that the film has been released.
Her 'cancellation' has to be one of the most ludicrous episodes of the woke wars so far. Thanks for the heads up!

CaraDune · 24/06/2020 21:42

I've come across Vaishnavi's work before - she's brilliant. Thanks for publicising this.

Angryresister · 24/06/2020 21:57

Interesting film. But shocking with the relentlessness of sexual harassment , which we know exists everywhere. Such tough women talking.

BovaryX · 25/06/2020 07:21

Hey Nonny, thank you for posting this, I haven't seen her documentary, but will check it out. As you say, how utterly absurd that a courageous director like Vaishnavi Sundar has been 'cancelled' by the kind of 'activist' who has zero experience of the world beyond Euro Disney. Pathetic.

Thanks for highlighting this. Will set a reminder.

NonnyMouse1337 · 25/06/2020 12:32

Thanks everyone. Glad to see her work get more exposure and recognition. Smile

I registered for this yesterday but haven't received the Zoom link (think I was too late, although registrations only closed today). Chased WPUK but no joy as yet... any chance you could PM me with the link please @NonnyMouse1337?

funklochrepublik · 28/06/2020 15:26

Aha! Email from WPUK, including Zoom link, has just come through, in case anyone else is still waiting Brew
