Considering the completely valid outrage that blackface has been permited to grace our TV screens so recently in shows such as little Britain... and wondering why womanface is not regarded as being so offensive....? Hmm

I agree, men dressing up as women and acting ridiculous Is offensive and not that different from black face. Both are ‘entertainment’ perpetrated by a group of people who have historically held power
( men - of all races) acted against people who have historically not had power ( women in virtually all societies). As a black woman it makes me think of Eddie Murphys nutty professor and Tyler Perry’s Madea. These characters are not only stupid stereotypes of women - but also fully lean in on shaming older women for their body types and portray them as sex obsessed, attention seeking weirdos who are the butt of every joke. This in contrast to older male characters who are also badly written but far less problematic and insulting.
