The British Youth Council are advertising for people age 18-25 to apply to be ambassadors for them. Only people who are female or identify as non-binary should apply.

So, is this a role exempt from legislation because they want a female? Or can a non-binary person who is male apply, and take up a woman's space?

I don't understand how this is allowed. If there's a genuine need for a woman, then don't they want a woman? Don't they risk non-binary men applying, and then finding it sexist to be turned down based on biology? Do they mean "non-binary, but female not male"? And WHY?

I'd call them or email for clarification and perhaps forward details to the Baroness.

They have deliberately misinterpreted the EA2010 on the sex based exemptions. Survivors Network did something similar for a role counselling under 13 who were victims of child sex abuse. It's happening everywhere!

You won't get anywhere reporting it unless you are an applicant and have a case for discrimination go against you for being female (not identifying as female) but awareness of it happening as a practice could be raised.

Definite misreading of EA2010. They could ask for women (and for this to include transwomen with GRCs) but 'non-binary' is not a protected characteristic because it is total BS .
