The ever entertaining TRA power couple Fox and Owl were apparently represented by the same agents as the wonderful Ms Rowling.

They, along with some bloke called Drew Davies, have severed ties because the agents refused to issue a public statement slagging off their biggest client.

Being bastions of professionalism they left by telling the guardian.

Over 1000 comments and I’ve only spotted two that are very weakly trying to support the four tantrum throwers. I’m sure JK’s spirits have really been lifted by the public response to the story and I’m sorry, I know I stole it off the net, but this did make me chuckle.

LillianBland · 23/06/2020 15:11

Oops.

Not when you hear them talking
Having read their statement, I don't want to. Really inept use of language.

"We know that having access to services to support women who’ve experienced sexual and/or domestic abuse is incredibly vital for all women, especially those who belong to other minorities, and that such services are severely underfunded."

And JKR contributes amounts you couldn't dream of.

TheSingingKettle49 · 23/06/2020 15:49

@Lamahaha I’ve just read it and I’m shocked that they are supposedly professional writers, it reads like a 14 year olds homework that they forgot and had to do on the bus. Maybe I should go into publishing, I’m shit at writing too! Grin

We are therefore making a collective donation to Shakti Women’s Aid

Lest anyone be pleasantly surprised that they were doing a selfless act for BAME women, I feel I should point out that Shakti is the charity set up by Mridul Wadhwa.

This is the person who applied for a job that specified it wasfor women only, but failed to mention transition status.

Having got feet under the table, as it were, Wadhwa had a epiphany, realising just how important it had suddenly become to start promoting trans rights to ensure male transitioners had access to all women’s spaces.

Peak deception.

They should donate to Vancouver Rape Relief.
Zoikes · 23/06/2020 16:33

Have they actually quantified said donation?

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2020 16:45

So Mridul works at a rape crisis centre? Really?

Scotland is great at some things. Others, not so much.

SerenityNowwwww · 23/06/2020 16:48

There was a twitter spat a while ago about them - about the trans women counsellors or clients wasn’t it?

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2020 16:49

Well, and there I was thinking I'd already peaked. I'd missed knowing about Mridul.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/06/2020 17:40

Mridul laughed about fooling the interview panel, as far as I recall. Mridul went for a job that was explicitly exempt under the Equality Act and for women only (female women).

Mridul appears in a film made by Owly or Fox or both of them.

From 2:38 'It was pretty clear to me that I was the only transwoman in the Woman's Aid Movement, and I wasn't even sure whether I would have been hired had they known that I was trans'

AskDan · 23/06/2020 18:12

Sorry..I am late to the party...but that video.

I feel a little sorry for Fox, probably was a bright child who felt they didn't really fit it. Then found acceptance and the sense of being special at mermaids. I can understand how captivating that would feel to a teenager who felt like an outsider.

But the easy way that Fox described everyone who disagreed with them as transphobic was truly shocking.

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2020 18:30

As I came out to various colleagues they said 'Oh, you can't be trans...!'

Maybe it wasn't surprise they were trans, and more surprised they'd be so very disrespectful as to go for that job!

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2020 18:34

A job stolen from the most marginalised.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/06/2020 18:35

I should probably clarify - I can't be sure that the job Mridul went for was exempt and for females only. That was presumption on my part, as refuges used to often specify female only. For fairly obvious reasons. I don't know if they even bother, these days.

onceuponatimeinsuburbia · 23/06/2020 18:40

JKR's agent's response to these literary no-marks and Asda's reply to Baroness N have cheered me up no end today.

OldeMagick · 23/06/2020 18:48

@Siablue

The Guardian have chosen to present this story on their Instagram ( they do this for very few stories). They have had 2 in the last week bashing JKR. The comments on this one are more in her favour.

Nobody knows who Fox and Owl are. I have had a look at their Instagram and I felt quite a lot of sympathy towards Fox. He did a post about how transitioning had almost completely relieved his gender dysphoria.

Having looked at the book. It would do harm to other young people because it presents transition as the solution. It would be good for young people who are trans to hear their story but they also need to hear the stories of people who decided not to transition. So many trans people are autistic and we do learn about how to act form copying other people so are more likely to go down a path that is not right for us. I would have a lot of sympathy with them if they did not try to silence others.

I looked at their Instagram and they're getting their arses handed to them. All sticking up for JKR Grin
picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2020 18:51

I've missed the Asda reply... must go and see what's going on. I swear I miss more than I see these days.

Fox transitioned around age 30! Fox lived a whole adult life before transitioning. No excuse
AskDan · 23/06/2020 19:12

Codename - I take it all back. Watching the video, I thought Fox attended the mermaids camp.as a young person, as a participant and not a camp leader.

What were they doing there then? It is all very strange.

CodenameVillanelle · 23/06/2020 19:41

Very good question!

Siablue · 23/06/2020 20:27

OldeMagicke they are getting their arses handed to them. I have also had a look at the Times comments which are basically 100% in her favour.
