Making Juneteenth about the T

To those who don't know, Juneteenth is a celebration of the emancipation of American slaves. Specifically in Texas on June 19th 1865, but many descendents of slaves across the US mark the day. On Friday, some activists in Baltimore decided to mark the day by raising the Trans and pride flags. The comments on it show that a lot of people are extremely cynical and angry about it.

To quote one of the Tweets:

'one hot minute after Juneteenth gains true national attention, it's co-opted.'

Like tragedy vampires stealing momentum from other causes.

Trans stuff is trendy. In a few years it won't be. Eventually people will look back and laugh at people for being so daft.

DeployTheTut · 21/06/2020 13:23

That’s shameful! Juneteenth has its own flag: BUT THEY DIDNT RAISE IT!!!

I wish I could believe this, but I don't.

Dr Clare Jones has also tweeted about it: twitter.com/janeclarejones/status/1274585021995769859

So this appropriation is getting WAY out of hand.

I'd never heard of Juneteenth until the TA made such morons of themselves.

So, now I've learned a bit more about the history of Black America. I'm glad about that and ashamed that I didn't know Juneteenth was a thing in the first place.

Thanks, TA.

Dr Jones is missing the pathology.

It's assumed that any good and worthy cause will be keen to raise awareness of and centre trans people's needs in their cause and to hand over their spotlight, and asking, gaining permission or tact not necessary. Any cause or group that questions this is immediately outing themselves as evil.

It''s just all about them, all the time. Other people are either useful or obstacles.

TRA hijacking yet another thing to make it about themselves, are we surprised?

Lets not forget their strategy was to attach this agenda to anything merely "progressive" such this current BLM.

SerenityNowwwww · 21/06/2020 16:09

I saw a couple of white girls heading off to a BLM
Protest yesterday - with their ‘black trans lives matter’.

I had just been reading about FGM and wondered if they would bother their arses about that cause.
