An older article but relevent to events today. My 12 year old Autistic Daughter is a lesbian, who has some body issues right now and would love to know of safe resources and groups she can join or learn from before she starts high school and is exposed to the LGBTQ+ groups there that may be unfiltered.

We have been following the JKR case and she's been learning about both sides - an autistic friend of hers who is 15 is trying to transition now and has been threatening suicide if it doesn't happen. The mother is terrified if she asks any questions she will be labelled a terf.

My approach with my own daughter is to preempt those conversations that are going to come up at school anyway soon and make sure she goes in armed with a strong knowledge of Lesbian views and rights so she is proud of that heritage and doesn't get railroaded into thinking she's not a perfect wonder as she is.
