I spent ages trying to figure out how the parody account had been set up to look so real Angry

Channel 4 News alarmingly stands by JK Rowling’s inaccurate and disturbing assertion that trans women are men

"Moreover, various university professors, human rights lawyers and government officials have stressed to PinkNews that, no, a cis man cannot obtain a GRC – a trans woman can. PinkNews has also repeatedly stressed this point to both Fact Check and Channel 4 News."

They surely can't believe what they write - it must just be clickbait?

They think we’re idiots

Xanthangum · 19/06/2020 18:35

I just looked at their real top story.

Bashing Keir Starmer, for ... not saying anything?

"Starmer, the only Labour leadership contender who refused to sign up to the Labour Campaign for Trans Rights list of pro-trans rights pledges earlier this year, said he would only “take a view” on the government’s proposals when they are published."

Sounds very sensible to me...

I suppose it depends whether you adhere to the quasi religious idea that a brain has nothing to do with the body it's in. To paraphrase PC Gull (of Fair Cop JR fame) a brain in the womb can find it's self growing the wrong type of body.

You have to believe in the concept of 'cis' and 'trans' as having definitive, provable definitions. Which of course they don't and one look at the Stonewall trans umbrella tells you that - it's something that literally anyone could identify into.

It's a bizarre statement to make, not just because the whole thing is nuts, because being able to 'identify' and being 'whoever you say you are' is one of their main tenets of faith. So based on that why wouldn't a 'cis man' be able to get a GRC if he wanted one? Anything less than that is truscum/transmed gatekeeping.

Honestly, I love Pink News. They were what made me realise how insane it all was to begin with. Sending women to them makes them sit up and start to join in the effort to retain women's rights more than anything else. Before that, I thought you were all just mean and horrid.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/06/2020 18:50

But the report fails to clarify that, no, a “man” cannot do this. Yes, a trans woman, assigned male at birth, can obtain a gender recognition certificate after a lengthy process without surgery. But a cis man can not do this.

So the infallible sorting hat again, eh?

zanahoria · 19/06/2020 20:42

This is legal stuff, not a gender studies degree, you cannot just make stuff up.

Does cisman have a legal definition?

NotTerfNorCis · 19/06/2020 20:59

I honestly thought that was a pisstake at first. What kind of a headline is that? PN is just a propaganda rag.

newrubylane · 19/06/2020 21:04

"A woman in the social sense" 🤨

Thanks for the archive link.
Pink news are floundering and desperate, they have clearly chosen their hill.
My 3 year old can tell a better story than them.

newrubylane · 19/06/2020 21:27

If they don't believe it's possible for someone to 'fake it' (which, lets face it, is what they're arguing), then why does the GRA not apply on the case of primogeniture? Because evidently the woman who stands to benefit by gaining a GRC and suddenly becoming the first-born son couldn't possibly be making it up, genuinely feels she is a man and therefore should of course inherit before her younger brother, right? Or is it only men who are allowed to benefit from the GRA?

FloralBunting · 19/06/2020 22:30

Anyone can say the prayers of consecration, but only a validly ordained priest can confect the bread and wine so that they become the actual body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ the Lord.

You might think that you are still looking at a small round wafer, but if, and only if, a true priest has held it and said the prayers, it's actually God.

Pink News are making exactly the same religious statements about Genderism that I have just made about Catholicism. The difference is Catholics aren't campaigning to make it law that everyone should bow down before the Eucharistic host, while Pink News are campaigning for everyone to have to, by law, say that there is an actual distinction between a 'cis man' and a 'trans woman', when that is actually only a statement of faith.

forsucksfake · 19/06/2020 22:38

One can dream they've been infiltrated by a massive piss-taker.

DickKerrLadies · 19/06/2020 23:43

But the report fails to clarify that, no, a “man” cannot do this. Yes, a trans woman, assigned male at birth, can obtain a gender recognition certificate after a lengthy process without surgery. But a cis man can not do this.

I've heard better arguments from my 5 year old.

contactusdeletus · 20/06/2020 00:49

@FloralBunting This is exactly how I feel about it. Genderism is a religion and I shouldn't be punished if I choose not to follow it, or silenced if I try to point out its abuses. It's a comfort to people and it's kind not to challenge them too much on it, but it should never be enshrined in the law and enforced on people who don't believe.

You can think me a sinner and a heretic if you want - it doesn't give you the right to drag me in front of the Inquisition and put me on the rack.
