It’s a comedy panel show where the participants are given a topic to talk nonsense about and hiding 5 truths in the speech.

The topic that Frankie Boyle has was ‘women’.
David Mitchell introduced the topic as ‘adult human female’!

Bravo David!

They usually give the dictionary definition. Not sure I'd read too much into it.

Binterested · 15/06/2020 19:08

They are tapping out a signal to us on the pipes😂

We are not alone Grin

Naaah Robert Webb is not-so-secretly terfy and has got shit on Twitter. He knows the dictionary definition of woman is a 'transphobic dog whistle' Grin
SquishySquirmy · 15/06/2020 19:11

This made my ears prick up too!
It sounded quite pointed: " your topic Frankie is women: Adult human females."
I think he knew exactly what he was doing when he said that.

And then it made me think how utterly ridiculous it is that someone using that definition on the radio should be remotely noteworthy. Yet it is.

Collidascope · 15/06/2020 19:13

I hope Frankie Boyle walked off in protest. Or is it just women he feels he can attack for thinking words have meanings?

PaleBlueMoonlight · 15/06/2020 19:13

That is hilarious. Really? To Frankie Boyle!!

FlamingoAndJohn · 15/06/2020 19:13

Yes it is usually the dictionary definition but this one is rather controversial and FB has said rather anti t*rf stuff in the past.

OP posts:
JoysOfString · 15/06/2020 19:13

I just came on to post about this :o

I definitely thought it was deliberate.

JoysOfString · 15/06/2020 19:15

Frankie Boyle then went on to talk about women at length as per the game, so I wonder if he'll now be roasted alive himself.

There was some chat about male gametes somewhere as well I think. Positively subversive.

Here is a link. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000k2td

It’s one of my favourite programs on Radio 4 anyway.

Oh, I just came to post about this too!

"Woman - adult female human beings" Grin

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000k2td about half way through

TeenPlusTwenties · 15/06/2020 19:19

I just came on to post too, but I see listening to Archers made me late.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/06/2020 19:20

X post with Flamingo. Still, like Posie V Haddock, it can't be posted too many times Grin

MorrisZapp · 15/06/2020 19:22

I knew it!

Mitchell is GC, of course he is. Bravo David. Keep on dog whistling!

FB knows he can't argue against adult human female on a jovial panel show yet freely abuses women on twitter.

It's time decent people refused to work with him.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 15/06/2020 19:23

Robert Webb's book was brilliant, and I'd be surprised if someone as intelligent as David Mitchell wasn't a believer in biological reality. As far as I can tell, both of them seem to genuinely believe that women are actually equal human beings to men. A rare quality these days.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 15/06/2020 19:24

And FB is as misogynist as they come.

MorrisZapp · 15/06/2020 19:27

Yip. I've been let down before but I truly believe that David and Robert think women are proper people.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 15/06/2020 19:33

I couldn’t believe it. It comes to something when I’m shocked to hear the dictionary definition of woman.

JoysOfString · 15/06/2020 19:35

They usually give the dictionary definition.

That's why it's genius (if it is deliberate as I so hope it is). They usually give the dictionary definition, so no one can accuse DM of doing anything other than what they normally do. But whoever decided on the topic "women" for Frankie Boyle was setting that up.

I'm not sure FB even understands the whole situation well enough to grasp this. Even if it wasn't deliberate it puts him right on a sticky wicket.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 15/06/2020 19:42

I think they have done ‘women’ before.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 15/06/2020 19:44

When it was intentional or coincidence, it was still brilliant.

JoysOfString · 15/06/2020 19:44

I don't remember it - was it before adult human female was adopted as a GC slogan?

RuffleCrow · 15/06/2020 19:47

Well if DM wasn't GC i'd be baffled. He's Mr Voice Of Common Sense isn't he? I think that's how he thinks of himself anyway
