This is just down the road from me and it's where I often shop. In fact, I'm going there tomorrow. Appalled by this! I'm sure men had cubicles in their loos so why the change? Why is it always women asked to budge up to make toilets more inclusive!? Glad to see lots of men are objecting to this too!

Our 2 cubicled female work toilets were made mixed sex to accommodate male colleagues who'd previously been using the toilet in an adjacent building. Women were in the majority though in terms of staff numbers.

After a few weeks we found the toilets stank and we didn't want to use them. There were pools of piss on the floor and toilet brushes weren't used.

Worse, one of the men was having a wee with the cubicle door ajar.

We complained and the toilets were made female again and the males reverted back to using the ones in the next building.

I have to ask, when this happens, do any of them even look shame faced? When a manager has to come and say "because you wont stop pissing on the floor, and wont clean up after yourself, you are now banned from those toilets" do any of them actually look like the realise they've behaved badly?

Why is it unsafe for transwomen to use the men's even though TW are male size and strength but unisex toilets are thought safe for smaller weaker women who may need to leave cubicle door open when they have children? Hmm

I'm glad you started this thread Miss Lawls, I live near there too and its put me off going shopping there. Their loos aren't the nicest at the best of times and their location means that people with bad intentions can take advantage easily.

My concern is that this will end up not being a temporary measure. I'm glad they're getting a lot of pushback in the local paper.

Bobbie

First an email went out to all staff, politely asking everybody to leave the toilets in a sanitary condition.

Then the women put a polite sign up reminding toilet users to be hygenic.

Finally, one of my wonderful and direct colleagues told the men's male manager.

Eventually nanagement listened to the women as a collective.

Re the door opening incident. The WOMAN felt embarrassed and walked straight out (yup, she was forced to leave and SHE felt awkward) and no shame or apology from the MAN.

We are conditioned to be polite and not make a fuss.
