BLM and transgender

I've been reading and learning on the JKR threads, I was marginally GC before, but have been shocked and depressed at the crap being flung in her direction.
I've been pondering over posting this point that is included in the BLM manifesto, because of course black lives matter and of course there should be equality and I don't want to derail that. But there's this, I find the use of the word cis offensive in any situation ...
We are self-reflexive and do the work required to dismantle cisgender privilege and uplift Black trans folk, especially Black trans women who continue to be disproportionately impacted by trans-antagonistic violence

What are your thoughts?

My take on the whole transgender thing is, if you are a transwoman or transman, than be proud of it, fight for your rights and space. But it doesn't make you a biological woman or man. So I guess I'm just concerned about the use of the word cis, and the fact that the manifesto focuses far more in trans rights than women's rights.

Cisgender is a biological descriptor also used in the medical sector. You posted a reply to your post talking about biological women. The very reason the BLM manifesto uses cis women is to differentiate between a cis women and trans women, although a trans woman who transitioned is biologically a women unless you're talking about chromosomes in which potentially up to 10% of the population of the world has a mismatch between chromosomes and physical gender.

If you work out a way to completely dismantle a body to cell level and tweak every single cell of a person to be programmed to sustain that life from that moment forward as the opposite sex, please do let us know. You know, like the transporter on Star Trek.

In the meantime, through use of artificial hormones (and a method to suppress natural hormone production that might include removing body parts that produce those hormones) and extreme cosmetic surgery, a person may have a body that emulates that of the opposite sex. We are also reliably told by many trans women that they fully realise this reality of their bodies and only a small group don't accept it.

Transitioning can mean so many different things nowadays - but one thing it never ever means is that a male has become a biological woman. Those neo-vaginas just don’t lead anywhere. A bit like your argument.

I know that this is a zombie thread, but I saw a tweet saying that when distributing their funds, BLM donated to 30 charities, 23 are transgender charities.

I read an interesting few posts about male/female pelvises on a thread yesterday. I would be very interested in how this would work, given what was said there. But alas, my biology is only at high school level. And I have not seen anyone try to educate us on 'advanced biology' since bowlofbabelfish disappeared.

That was actually possibly my fave thread ever. The attempt to educate her on such matters
