TRAs are aggressive because their ideology can't take scrutiny.

CourtneyLurve · 13/06/2020 07:26

I don't know how to do a share link. It just lists some of the misogynist, abusive insults thrown at her. This is my fave bit:

The abusive replies, almost all of which were sent by individuals rather than by campaign groups, were often tweeted under pseudonyms from accounts with anime avatars.

RumbleBuffin · 13/06/2020 08:23

Thank you Thanks

Ps I am so angry about this

@RumbleBuffin

aggressive tweeting and threats of violence is all they have in their armoury. i am fairly new to this debate but can see clearly which side is right . most people can.
sashagabadon · 13/06/2020 08:49

i do wonder if alot of those anime accounts are bots? are they real people?
i am not on twitter but look now and again and you see the exact same words/ phases again and again about a subject - whatever it may be - and I wonder if they are all bots

I think twitter is increasingly army bots fighting against each other and not real people at all.

Rubidium · 13/06/2020 10:10

I'm glad that the abuse JKR received has been documented in a 'proper' place like a leading and well-respected national newspaper. It's more difficult to delete or remove the abusive comments when they are quoted in a newspaper article. I like to think this article has been written with future historians in mind.

RuffleCrow · 13/06/2020 10:14

Can't read it, but the hag comments are laughable. Her age/ appearance is irrelevant but for the record, I think she's very beautiful. Which of course only makes them hate her more.

Rubidium · 13/06/2020 10:17

Share token here if anyone can't access it:

The abusive replies, almost all of which were sent by individuals rather than by campaign groups

Almost all is rather notably not all. Do we have a list of the ones that just couldn't restrain themselves?

PaleBlueMoonlight · 13/06/2020 10:22

Wouldn't it be wonderful if news outgoings started referring to it as a row over women's rights or a row over the erosion of women's rights.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 13/06/2020 10:23

*outlets

PaleBlueMoonlight · 13/06/2020 10:24

That article is great though (and awful)

RumbleBuffin · 13/06/2020 10:40

Completely agree @rubidium and thanks for the token

Wow the times certainly told it like it was. Am I write in thinking supporting that paper is also supporting The Sun, though? Or has that changed? So we have one paper fuelling violence against women and a ' big sister' paper condemning it?

notyourhandmaid · 13/06/2020 15:35

Thank you for sharing this article. Actual accurate reporting of the situation.
