Fact Check decided to see who was right.

And of course she was!

But PN haven't apologised to her - what a surprise.

Why have they stated that government guidance is consistent with guidance from Mermaids. Surely this should be the other way round. Mermaids don’t make the law (though they try to).

Well of course Pink News don’t do facts. They’re trying to convince us that “living as a man” includes being pregnant and having a baby.

Does it point out that under the proposed self ID legislation there is not even a need for any diagnosis or dysphoria. You just sign that you have been living as the opposite sex for 3 months.

Most of the public think trans means hormones and surgery for people too distressed with their body to live within it. Of course that is true for some people but now there is not even need for dysphoria.

I think PN aren’t playing with a full deck. JKR is a very bright woman. She is also very high profile and extremely wealthy and aware that those things make her a target. Do PN think she wouldn’t use her resources for proper research? She likely has a research assistant. And I’d imagine her legal people went through it as well, before publication. She didn’t write it on a napkin while waiting in the bus queue.

Doubt it. 80% of men who transition retain their penis. and surgery means any kind of surgery - a lot of men have facial feminisation surgery and that's considered 'surgery'

Reading the last quote in the full fact article, they have also managed to convince themselves that their beliefs mean they can access full information about transition but the average JK Rowling blog reader should have 'simplified' lies instead.

It reminds me of Martin Luther ripping out entire books of the bible so nobody would be encouraged into lewd or violent behaviour.
