Has anyone seen the shit the wonderful Hibo Wardere has been getting?
Trans activists are trying to get her to take the 'female' out of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) and unbelievably they have been comparing themselves to victims of FGM!
Huge rage.

God they hate women so very much!

I'm no fan of circumcision but seriously, in order to be comparable to what fgm does you'd have to pretty much remove the whole penis.

NonnyMouse1337 · 11/06/2020 18:03

Argh!!! It's time women started telling the Twitter nobodies to fuck off. The vast majority of the human population do not use Twitter. Why is everyone acting like demands made on Twitter have to be listened to? How much power do we keep conceding to keyboard bullies who have nothing else better to do with their time and nothing of worth to contribute to society other than to badger prominent women with their batshit demands? No is a complete sentence.

WinterAndRoughWeather · 11/06/2020 18:06

I remember seeing a TRA on twitter responding to arguments about FGM by saying it was important but a “cis problem”. As if girls could just ID their way out of FGM.

WomaninBoots · 11/06/2020 18:06

This is making me fucking rage. Can't believe the Guardian twisting it to be Forced, not Female. FOTTFSOF...ATFOSM

Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 18:07

Should be FFGM then,

SarahTancredi · 11/06/2020 18:09

Its the guardian. We should expect no less. Probably killed them.writing the word girl in the article. They had to let the rage out somewhereHmm

ConcreteUnderpants · 11/06/2020 18:20

Thanks for posting the links.
Currently banned from Twitter (!)

No, forced is most definitely not a better word. Hibo is a fantastic woman and a force to be reckoned with, so hopefully she’ll continue fighting this and brush off the abuse she’s getting.

FGM survivors being told to shut up, can’t believe it, can’t you?!

littlbrowndog · 11/06/2020 18:27

She is wonderful. Goosefoot in no way is it circumscion done on males. No way at all

It is vile and the girls suffer medically all their lives.

FromEden · 11/06/2020 18:59

Oh my God, ive just gone down the twitter rabbit hole and can't belive that Morgan ogre had the absolute gall to tell Hibo that speaking out about FEMALE genital mutiliation is "leveraging her trauma to justify transphobia". How the fuck has that person not been canceled yet?! They certainly live up to their name. Disgrace

Dances · 11/06/2020 19:03

Honestly, this shit get worse every fucking day

This!

This is why I am so fucking ragingly angry about this.

Fortunately, I think once you've been through FGM, as brave women like Hibo have been, you are going to give precisely no fucks at all about some creepy little incel on twitter trying to bully you into ignoring the inescapably sex-based nature of the ordeal you were put through.

Nuffaluff · 11/06/2020 19:07

I wish I could say I'm.surprised however I have seen for myself on Twitter , a fgm survivor being told she has cis privilege and to shut up.
Fucking hell.

AIMD · 11/06/2020 19:28

I really don’t understand the reasoning behind them not wanting to refer to it as Female genital Mutilation. That just seems like an accurate description to me...female body parts being mutilated because they are female (regardless of if the person owning those body parts identified as male or female).

I do wonder if ‘forced genital mutilation’ might be a useful phrase if you were talking generally about genital mutilation against children, but I don’t like it being used as a way to avoid the ‘female’ part of FGM.

PumbaasCucumbas · 11/06/2020 19:36

I am so angry about this,

I’m reading the last of the wolf hall books at the moment, in it, Hilary mantel writes a male character saying something like, ‘women are peculiar, when something happens to one of them they all seem to feel it.’ Which struck a chord with me.

How can they in one breath say TWAW but then have no empathy for their ‘sisters’. CHILDREN who suffer the most unimaginable pain, suffering and bewilderment/shame. Women who suffer their whole lives at the hands of the most oppressive sexism, racism and the physical/psychological harm they have gone through, and continue to endure every time they go to the toilet/have a period/have sex/give birth.

These lowlifes will never know empathy or how a mother’s heart grieves for these girls. They only see their own entitlement. They are not women and never will be.

OldCrone · 11/06/2020 20:37

I was just thinking that surely all genital mutilation of children was forced, but then I thought about a famous case where the child apparently wanted it. I won't say any more because this will be deleted (it might anyway).

BatShite · 11/06/2020 20:38

This is one of the parts of this that makes me rage the most for sure. How dare they.

Winesalot · 11/06/2020 20:47

This really does highlight their privilege doesn’t it? It is unbelievable, it really is.

OldQueen1969 · 11/06/2020 20:50

Oh ye Gods and little fishes. maybe I'm some sort of masochist - or just a woman trying to figure out which way is up with regards to the state of the world today for women - but I've been reading through many threads about the trans issue today and have just come out of yet another tortuous round of TW just want to be accepted for the women they are and seen this thread........

My mind boggles. Utterly boggles. Are some misguided and oblivious souls really bleating that women who have been horribly physically abused and mutilated purely to control them via their sex lives are unkind for mentioning it, and you know, maybe stop the practise because it's fucking inhumane because the language offends their much more delicate sensibilities?

Can they not see that every time they wade in on issues affecting women for real every day and try to claim the greater need and recognition, it makes likely allies recoil and wonder just WTAF the actual agenda is?

This is grim. Utterly grim.

AIMD · 11/06/2020 20:53

Good point old crone (though I don’t know anything about the case you mentioned)..maybe just genital mutilation....because if it was does for a health reason I suppose you wouldn’t call that mutilation? Anyway I’m going off point a bit.

Although I respect trans people and would refer to anyone as female if that was what they identified as ....mutilation of female body parts is about the fact that they are female parts and the attitudes towards females isn’t it. So I still don’t get their argument.

CaraDune · 11/06/2020 20:54

Male circumcision is occasionally necessary for medical reasons.

It is, as pointed out upthread, not analogous to female genital mutilation, which would be more akin to complete amputation of the penis.

We can't lose the word "female" because it's not done to children who just happen to be female, it is done to girls because they are female.

That's what's so offensive about the TRAs harrassing Hibo Wardere. They are trying to make invisible the reason why it is done to girls. They are so consumed by jealousy towards women they would rather take away the language we need to fight one of the most barbaric practices on the planet than let us talk about our own biology.

OldCrone · 11/06/2020 21:02

I wasn't referring to male circumcision, although the children (just remembered a second famous case) were both male. I don't think it's inaccurate to refer to the amputation of a 16-year-old child's penis as 'mutilation'.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/06/2020 21:03

There really is no depths they won't plummet to

I fully believe it's deliberate. Revenge for not being able to take it out on JKR. Need to one up all the other TRAs by doing something even more shitty and misogynistic than the last time.

OldCrone · 11/06/2020 21:03

Apologies for the derail. This thread is about female genital mutilation.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 11/06/2020 21:06

I am against male circumcision too - unless for medical reasons - and of course in most circumstances is forced.

However we need to make a distinction about the utter barbarity of FGM and it’s role to oppress and control women and girls.

It’s female lived experience.

The guardian - to change this has sunk them even lower in my estimation.

Doyoumind · 11/06/2020 21:11

I've seen the threads about this on twitter. How they can push their western gender shit on to the language used to describe what goes on in those communities where gender identity doesn't even exist makes me feel full of rage. I wish more people were aware of this. It would open their eyes to the insanity.
