State sanctioned sexual assault of a black woman by a police officer in Texas

This is from last October and may have already been posted here but I haven’t seen it.

A 40 year old black woman was publicly violated by a female police officer who performed an unauthorised cavity search by the side of the road and pulled out her tampon.

Nowhere in any of the articles is the woman’s race actually mentioned...

What stood out to me is this-

“Internal affairs investigators determined that Wilson's actions didn't violate the department's policies, according to the lawsuit. Following the body cavity search, her performance was described as "Exceeds Expectations."

That's dreadful. Sad

stanislavasmirnova · 11/06/2020 15:05

Jesus Christ that's beyond horrific. Although I think I did read about this at some point in the past. At least I hope I did and it's not something that's happened multiple times to multiple women.

CaraDune · 11/06/2020 15:07

Good god. That is absolutely horrific. That poor woman.

And what the fuck with putting the amount of compensation to a vote? Jesus. I have no words.

DrDavidBanner · 11/06/2020 15:08

Oh my, what have I just read?

How awful, that part stood out to me to. Does that mean its legal? I wonder how many other poor women have been publicly violated that way?

GCAcademic · 11/06/2020 15:08

That is horrifying.

Smallsteps88 · 11/06/2020 15:10
Shock

WTAF is wrong with these scumbags who want to do this to people?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 11/06/2020 15:10

Jesus Christ.

Internal affairs investigators determined that Wilson's actions didn't violate the department's policies

Well then the department's policies are shit and they need to tear them up and start over again.

Thats disgusting how dare they Angry

Collidascope · 11/06/2020 15:13

What the actual fuck

AngeloMysterioso · 11/06/2020 15:14

I don’t know if it actually makes me more angry that this was a female police officer. Who you would think would have some understanding of how traumatic it is to be subjected to that sort of assault.

It would be interesting to know where that police officer is working now. She resigned but may well have gone straight to a different police department

LillianBland · 11/06/2020 15:18

That’s actually made me fell physically sick. Not the blood, period, or anything like that, but the fact that the poor woman was sexually abused in public and nothing has been done about it. As a child victim of sexual abuse and a survivor or rape, I think experiencing that would push me over the edge.

BastardGoDarkly · 11/06/2020 15:26

I understand cavity searches and the removal of tampons. But roadside for God sake? How is that legal??

Dicotyledon · 11/06/2020 15:47

Was it definitely a woman?

Dicotyledon · 11/06/2020 15:47

The police officer, I mean

MoltenLasagne · 11/06/2020 16:36

Jesus, how can this be aligned to policy? It's like the policies which say that police officers are allowed to "have sex" with detainees which means they essentially get away with raping women they arrest.

Notmyrealname855 · 11/06/2020 16:38

What the actual fuck?????????

ThinEndoftheWedge · 11/06/2020 16:40

How exactly do you write police procedures so that this is acceptable?

Notmyrealname855 · 11/06/2020 16:41

Not to derail but do you remember this? www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/aug/01/louisville-jail-woman-no-pants-court

“ A Kentucky corrections facility is under scrutiny after a woman was brought into a Louisville court apparently wearing no pants, having allegedly been offered no hygiene products for three days.
The incident was caught in a recording of the court proceedings. The woman’s lawyer informed Judge Amber Wolf that her client had not received hygiene products or been given pants since she arrived in jail three days previously.
“This is outrageous,” Wolf said, in the video released on Friday. “Is this for real? Am I in the Twilight Zone?”
Wolf immediately called the Metro corrections director to ask: “Why is there a female defendant standing in front of me with no clothes on?””
