Useful for people new to the debate. And I'm getting lots of friends/acquaintances asking me about trans issues just now so would love to cut and paste it.

Are you talking about GRA reforms in Scotland or the UK one? The consultation for both have ended, and the Scottish as well as the UK government haven't released the results yet. Both appear to be taking their time in publishing the analysis of the responses, but keep saying something will be done about it soon. I think the Scottish government have completely shelved the project due to priorities around the Covid-19 pandemic.

The biggest problem is that even though self-id is not the law, nothing has been changed and we are only at the consultation stage - yet the overwhelming majority of public and private organisations and groups have implemented self-id policies claiming it is the law or that to apply single-sex exemptions would be 'illegal' in some way. There is an astounding level of ignorance among public and private sectors and even governmental bodies about what the Equality Act and Gender Recognition Act are about. Self-id and the erosion of women's rights and the language used about women has been rolled out ahead of any legislation or broad public approval.

This gives an overview of the background in the GRA debate.

I found this article the most useful when I was writing my submission to the Scottish consultation and was trying to understand some of the claims made by trans activists about the GRA/GRC process.

Also, trans activists and their enablers keep claiming there is no conflict between women's rights and trans rights, and that women's rights will not be affected by any proposed reforms to the GRA.

The Equality Act has exemptions to enable women to have single-sex spaces and services. Trans organisations have been lobbying to have this removed and the evidence of this can be seen in their submissions.

If there's no conflict, why so keen to have single-sex exemptions removed huh?

Do these groups think we are all so stupid?? It was discovering this which made me firmly on the GC side. The anger and rage I felt when I saw this evidence.... I could not believe my eyes... I was hurt that I supported these organisations in good faith and signed their petitions and believed their two-faced lies and all the propaganda spouted by their enablers, while they are busy in background stabbing women in the back. No fucking way will I stand by and let these bunch of shysters take away my rights and the rights of every other woman and girl in the name of progress and trans rights. This is fucking personal.

Brilliant.

Thank you Joanne Rowling.

Thank you Joanne Rowling

Indeed Smile

I've been trying to bring this into conversation for ages and friends/family don't want to engage. Now the knives are out for someone as admired as JK Rowling they actually want to hear!

Thanks for links.
