Given the BodyShop have now decided to 'go woke, go broke', can we add other companies here that we are boycotting along with the reason why please?

Also the companies we are supporting and why, like Arla for instance. There are a lot of posters here who may not be aware of the history of some companies and their support/dismissal of women's rights.

It's a while since we had a current list. Screenshots would be great as evidence.

I'll start with probably the one most have heard of, Marks and Spencer, for allowing anyone to use the changing rooms they are 'most comfortable' in, even though this will make a great many of their female (and many male) customers very 'uncomfortable'.

That completely passed me by

Omg me too!! Link anyone?

SistemaAddict · 10/06/2020 23:46

Ffs there'll be nowhere left to shop at this rateSad I try and buy most clothing from eBay now but not underwear or pjs. I've always used M&S, asda, and John Lewis. Those twatting pronoun badges at Asda really annoyed me. My local store has very age diverse staff and I can see the older ones giving them the side eye.

What did birds eye do?

TheChampagneGalop · 10/06/2020 23:54

How about the brands that we can support - Arla is one right?

SistemaAddict · 11/06/2020 00:04

I asked for brands we could support but someone wise said they may then become a target for converting to wokeism.
I wish I could just shop without wondering if the shop is corrupt.

SarahTancredi · 11/06/2020 00:11

Claire's accessories - they not only added to the exploitation of a child , when they received backlash they just ditched him.

Starbucks. For their stupid cookie fundraising stunt

WatchoutfortheROUS · 11/06/2020 00:19

Didn't know about Clue, but I've just had a closer look on the app, lots of talk about "people" who menstruate, not a woman in sight ffs Angry Can anyone recommend an alternative?

SignOnTheWindow · 11/06/2020 00:29

@SarahTancredi

betty

Top shop and m&s allow men in womens changing room even if it's the one used for bra fitting.

Thinx erased the word woman yet sell period underwear

Avocado removed a billboard poster with the definition of woman on it.

Tesco endorsed a list of top lesbians that included 7 males. And one extreme porn advocate and domestic violence apologist.

Which one was the extreme porn advocate and which the domestic violence apologist?
LockdownLump · 11/06/2020 00:38

Fucking hell. I feel like 'stop the world, I wanna get off' today.

So fucking deflated.

LockdownLump · 11/06/2020 00:49

www.tuc.org.uk/research-analysis/reports/pregnant-and-precarious-new-and-expectant-mums-experiences-work-during

Can't believe I am relieved to see we are called 'women' and 'mums' here. Not mensturators or cervix havers'.

And I can't believe I am fucking releived by it!!!!!

Yes I've been on the wine. But I have felt so fucking angry and sad and deflated and up and down and all kinds of emotions today about all this shit.

And I am fucking glad about this link. Fucking says it all ffs.

BlackForestCake · 11/06/2020 01:18

Strava, the running/cycling app that promoted McKinnon, who became a "champion cyclist" by cheating.

contactusdeletus · 11/06/2020 01:29

The books of Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series. He just tweeted his disapproval of Rowling's essay and promoted a series of transgender books instead, including the works of Meredith Russo. The police have in the past investigated Russo for domestic abuse. Some googling will get you the details.

This is the author Rick Riordan, a beloved children's author, is recommending to his young fans in the same breath as he tears down JK Rowling.

OliveKitteridgeAgain · 11/06/2020 02:35

I am starting to wonder if there is a lot of pure envy at JKR's phenomenal success motivating some of these people. It's like they have been waiting to pull her down from her (rightfully earned) pedestal.

Mistymonday · 11/06/2020 02:42

This is really useful, thanks.

Thesuzle · 11/06/2020 03:15

Co-OP ? Bugger, what did they do.?

tobee · 11/06/2020 03:51

That's fucking annoying about Tesco. Dh is shielding and they're the only supermarket who have given us priority shopping! Ahhh!

I saw something on Twitter about pg tips and Yorkshire tea? Anyone know anything about these as I’d not heard of anything?

Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 08:03

John Lewis (anyone can use any changing room, now fuck off and don’t ask)

Lordfrontpaw · 11/06/2020 08:05

@NoraBat

I think that was a BLM thing wasn’t it? They didn’t black out their logo and someone tweeted something about them being glad they weren’t supporting blm - so they tweeted back something like ‘don’t but or tea please’. Didn’t pg tips join in too?
Sandybval · 11/06/2020 08:09

I think the girl who tweeted Yorkshire tea was saying she was glad to see they weren't supporting it as in, not doing it as a virtue signal as they should just be selling tea. Of course they replied and left her open to receive loads of abuse, PG Tips replied saying don't drink ours either (they assumed she was against the movement, which she might be, but seemed to just be someone annoyed at companies peddling politics).

FavouriteFightingFrenchman · 11/06/2020 08:10

This list is a bit depressing but I need some more info on Tesco... Are you saying there are people in the 100 lesbians list you don't agree with and all the sponsors should be avoided?

AsTreesWalking · 11/06/2020 08:23

I am so disappointed about Rick Riordan!
And endorsing Meredith Rosso? I was sent a copy of 'If I was your girl' to review. Quite apart from the poor grammar in the title, it's just a badly written book. I don't think it would have been published except for the fact that it is an 'issue' book.
And don't even ask about the sexism. (Trans schoolgirl moves school, looks for a boyfriend. The level of 'girlyness needs a boy to be fulfilled ' is beyond nauseating. I was too cross to risk writing the review)

Clymene · 11/06/2020 08:29

I think Tesco being the sponsor of a list where they had no control over who is on it is scraping the barrel a bit tbh.

Can't remember who asked but the extreme porn advocate and dv apologist are the same person: Jane Fae.

The London women's clinic is a private fertility clinic that treats a lot of lesbians. Ironic that there's at least two people on that list (at a quick glance) of 100 lesbians who wouldn't ever be able to conceive because they were born male. I'm disappointed they couldn't find 100 women but then I guess we should expect that.

Talking of including men in women's lists, anyone mentioned the bbc yet? Or the Labour Party?

Clymene · 11/06/2020 08:31

And I am very disappointed in rick riordan. I have bought many of his books.
