I can't tell you how much I have always loved JK Rowling, I own everything she's ever written, and have long looked up to her as such a strong and compassionate role model.

I love her even more now. In an interview once, she said of all things she admired, she admired bravery the most. And she is brave.

This was put on twitter earlier, by an artist who said she will embroider it "till her fingers bleed".

Perhaps we could all give an example of when our biology defined us? I’ll start.

How about being a 12 year old girl and having to go to the bathroom in the middle of a maths lesson, and then finding you needed to change your underwear including your tights because, you know, menstruation, and then slinking back into the Maths lesson, in you pe socks and not quite feeling like putting your hand up to answer the equations, even though you’d been near the top of the class and never quite getting back your confidence back. And knowing that you were fairly lucky because in the 80s your comp had separate girls and boys toilets but your daughter now aged 12 at her academy where there are gender neutral toilets feels intimidated fr I’m going to the loo in case one of those crazy Year 11 boys pops his head over the loo, maybe with a phone, but you can’t complain, because, you know, people who menstruate don’t need any special care or attention...

Thank you JK, as a 30year old woman who feels so ailianated from peers of my age because I will not tow the party line, and accept the eradication of "woman" under the guise of "inclusive language", thank you for giving me hope 💐

💐 I’ve tweeted more the last couple of days than in the entirety of my years on twitter, engaging in debate (which always founders when we get to facts - eg exactly who is army risk of ovarian rather than prostate cancer, for example), and danced around like a grasshopper asking for quotes in evidence from people who are shouting that JKR has denied the existence of trans people. Strangely they can never come up with one.

I am so sorry she has had to face the vitriol. Am very proud to have her as an ally.
