Does anyone else get the Chartered College of Teaching magazine? There's an article in there on LGBTQ+ training which has really wound me up. It talks about two non teachers setting up an LGBTQ club, getting pupils to share stories, whole school events like Pride and solidarity badges and how the net result was more 'out' lgbt pupils... And how some staff 'refused to engage' or even, gasp, 'openly discussed their reservations'. Would love to know if this school was as bothered about women's rights.

I have a complaint letter to go on this but haven't found who to send it to - fancy a go OP?

I'm not a teacher so haven't seen this. But have I understood correctly that two people - just random two adults who presumably are DBS checked (for what that's worth) - come into school premises to run a sexuality club for pupils?

What is wrong with chess club?
Or Young Engineers?
Or Art? Drama?
Or any club that isn't "Tell me your secrets and let's focus on your navel"?!

Would I be allowed to start a "Your sex, sexuality and gender identity aren't important, but you are and what you do in the world is" club?

I left this organisation because of an issue where I felt that women's and girls rights had not been put first.
I can't remember the specifics as it was a while ago.

Yup, long gone to the woke side. I didn't renew membership when they tweeted a link to a petition against the Transgender Trend pack which said it was transphobic (and which Dame Alison retweeted). I replied asking why they believed the pack was transphobic, and got piled on by Natacha, Kilgore etc all of which should have made it plain to whoever was running their Twitter feed that they were mixing in dodgy company, but no reply to my tweet.

They have so much influence, particularly on new teachers, it makes my blood boil that they are so thoughtlessly endorsing this regressive agenda.

@grafittiartist well I guess we could write and say we were considering re-joining, but have decided not to on the basis on their continuing promotion of an agenda that undermines the rights of women and girls and promotes regressive stereotypes?

I think I might because the CCT is not going away and I think all new NQTs will be given free membership this year so it is going to have even more influence. I hope Alison Peacock is just too busy desperately trying to get numbers up and hasn't noticed. Might write to all three of them.

Yes- we can still voice concerns.
We can explain why we don't feel it would welcome our views.
They were very quick to publicly announce their criticisms before- didn't seem like much thought had gone into it. Seemed more concerned about doing the public friendly thing.

I think this must be the article. I wonder how much due dilligence and safeguarding studies happen before this stuff is OK'd?

Thanks @andyoldlabour. So the + includes intersex, which has nothing to do with ‘identity’ or sexuality.

Trans and non-binary identities being taught as part of sex education. Conflating who I go to sleep AS and who I choose to sleep WITH just seems to me to be playing to the cotton ceiling agenda.

And how marvellous that more students are now openly identifying as trans or non-binary. Wonder how many are undiagnosed autistic girls?

Just let them wear what they want, hair length what they want regardless of whether male or female. Go out with who they want. Don’t wrap it up with ‘queering’ the curriculum because that s*#t comes from some pretty dark places.
