Am hoping this means the NHS is waking up ...

twitter.com/bayswatersg/status/1268227291970224131?s=21

Text from tweets:

“ The NHS website has updated its info on gender dysphoria & puberty blockers:

Old version: "The effects of treatment with GnRH analogues are considered to be fully reversible so treatment can usually be stopped at any time after a discussion between you, your child & your MDT” >>

New version: "Little is known about the long-term side effects of hormone or puberty blockers in children with gender dysphoria.

Although the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) advises this is a physically reversible treatment if stopped, it is not known what the… >>

...psychological effects may be.
It's also not known whether hormone blockers affect the development of the teenage brain or children's bones.”

"We wont work for you unless you let kids we haven't even met take life altering drugs"

Hmm
Gncq · 04/06/2020 17:32

This has completely kicked off.
TRAs are all over it, determined for "sackings" etc.

In my opinion the changed wording doesn't go far enough.

But now TRAs are even holding "Mermaids" accountable for this change. They are completely mad.

Who/ where?

Link?

They took a day though. And yes they are calling for blood. They are blaming Liz Truss and her phobic views. They are insisting that the person responsible is named. They are using the same emotive trope and threats as always.

Surely if having the truth on the NHS site is so triggering, let’s hope they will soon be getting mental health support. on-line immediately where available. If they have transitioned, I would have hoped their mental health could cope with reading that there are potential negative side effects to their drug regime. And that they would want others to have that information.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 04/06/2020 18:31

It really is ridiculous just how much they are being triggered by a medical website telling the truth.
All the emotion blackmail and narcissism.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/06/2020 18:37

The NHS have also update their info re adults:

Pity the text is so small. I can't read these Twitter posts.

If you click on the pic, it enlarges, Lamaha.

Apollo440 · 04/06/2020 19:18

So replacing the stats that everyone is happy with transitioning to bullet points abouts risks.
TRAs are gonna be upset.
Long overdue.

Thanks from this Twitter newbie and technophobe! Flowers
thenamesarealltaken · 04/06/2020 19:29

Thank goodness. My friend's son is taking them and I think it's a looming problem, given the huge impact hormones have on our bodies, mind and overall health.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 04/06/2020 19:58

So shocking to see adults openly demanding that children and their parents are not allowed factual information about the consequences of medical treatment.

Aesopfable · 04/06/2020 20:14

It is too late now to go back. They have admitted there are problems with these drugs. They can no longer pretend or they will be sued (and may yet be sued by those already on them - after all lack of evidence isn’t something that has just occurred like a study finding harms might).

Ha, that's a fantastic argument. If that's what gendered intelligence looks like, it's quite thick.

Sexnotgender · 04/06/2020 21:05

I think gendered intelligence is somewhat misnamed...

Winesalot · 04/06/2020 21:24

Oh dear! Drowning....

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 04/06/2020 23:16

Yes, or water intoxication.

It’s not water that gendered intelligence drinks that’s for sure...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/06/2020 09:25

That Gendered Intelligence quote is hilarious, until you think about how much influence they have over government and policy makers.

Deliriumoftheendless · 05/06/2020 10:10

People are given warnings about drinking too much water- as anyone old enough to remember Leah Betts will know.

McDuffy · 05/06/2020 10:34

And people still believe transphobia claims about Mumsnet, when all of this is about safeguarding children!

How helpless must some of those parents feel?

Sexnotgender · 05/06/2020 11:23

Indeed @Deliriumoftheendless I well remember her. In fact, we’re generally given warnings about most things that can potentially cause harm. It’s almost like we should be informed about things, weird...
