Has anyone heard of 'Pridefall'?

My DD told me this morning about some Pridefall campaign on social media to target LGBT accounts in Pride month and post sh1t. She said TikTok had banned LGBT hashtags (although I assume that is related to the hashtag glitch they had earlier this week). There's a few people talking about it on Twitter tho I can't see evidence of an organised campaign, just LGBT accounts discussing it.
BUT I did see photos of a pdf supposedly from the campaign with a list of target accounts and a quick glance down it revealed a lot of TRA accounts. Is it BS or what?

This has really scared my daughter as she is LGBT. However I did a bit of research and apparently the threats happen every year and nothing ever happens. More words than action. It seems the group behind it pretty much are against 'everything and anything'. Once Pride month is over they will move onto something else.

Ok, that's good to hear. My daughter is Bi but doesn't really post a lot so I don't think she was worried about being targeted.
What a weird thing tho. Who has the time or inclination to bother doing this stuff? I find it hard to believe, besides hardline Christians or Muslim extremists, that people are even bothered about LGB people any more, are they? Maybe I'm just in my bubble.

My ed told me about it on Monday as her gf has been told she is on a list. From what I've read, they need to make sure all their passwords for their social media is really secure, change them to a much stronger one. I've also told her to change any settings on social media to prevent these people posting rape videos and other vile things on their comments.
I just don't understand why people feel the need to do this sort of thing.

Oh god that's awful! I really hope it's more rumour than action. But great tips about changing passwords etc.

There's a bit of information on it here:

To be fair, anyone could post on 4chan and say 'we're going to troll so and so' but it doesn't mean anything will come of it. Best thing to do is to keep your social media as private as possible, don't allow comments from strangers and don't click on videos/links that are posted.

NonnyMouse1337 · 03/06/2020 11:41

Never heard of it. There does seem to be a number of people online who have nothing better to do than harass and annoy others. Probably get a kick out of it. Makes sense to change passwords regularly and keep social media settings as private as possible.

Once Pride month is over

Only a month this year? Phew.

Thanks @nevermorelenore

I think it is a 4Chan thing - but that is as much as I know about it, I don't really know what it is just that it is connected to 4Chan.

ThePankhurstConnection · 03/06/2020 13:53

I really shouldn't just skim read - I see the link posted above shows the connection to 4Chan.

Sorry!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 03/06/2020 13:59

If the hijacked LGB T community think I'm going to be their infantry rushing to their aid when 4Chan come for them, they can think again.

I'll like and support posts by FPFW, SOS Sports, LGB Alliance and Boxer Ceiling and those types of genuine causes if they choose to comment on anything that occurs. But the rainbow queer alphabetti spaghetti misogynist activists can do their own hard work.

Z0rr0 · 03/06/2020 14:14

@buzzshitbagbobbly That's a good point and we can certainly be allies to the LGB community if we see them being targets.
My interest was partially whether the action was specifically targeting TRAs or whether there was just a scattergun targeting across the LGBT community.
Like Anonymous posting about the less savoury motives behind some TRA accounts, I wondered if it was symbolic of a growing awareness, but seems like it's just unpleasant arseholes trying to spam a popular online movement.
