Mermaids finally has a trans trustee

Mermaids posted on twitter. Bobbi Packard. The new trustee is a late transitioning (2017, now 50) employee of BP. Former experience includes investment banking. Two children. Has been posting lots of Trump supportive anti-immigrant stuff on twitter. Very on message for Mermaids: their personal website has “All you need to know is that almost 50% of transgender children attempt suicide”.

Mermaids has been around since what? 1980s? and Mermaids has some trans patrons, but I think the patrons found Mermaids as adults.
I’m not aware that many of the children who were Mermaids clients and transitioned early, as they lobby for, (socially, then puberty blockers, then cross-sex hormones) have chosen to be associated as adults.

I really don't care who specifically is pedalling shit to kids. It's the fact shit is being pedalled to kids. I don't even care that a gun slinging Trump supporter is also pedalling shit to kids, they are just one person out of many.

When the shit they've been pedalling finally hits the fan, everyone involved in this particular organisation will be held accountable including this person.

Mermaids 31 March 2019 accounts showed they were low on trustees, down to the minimum, two. One resigned after. In the accounts they said they had paid Peridot Partners to find some new trustees. one was Alex Feis-Bryce. The sex work charity was Ugly Mugs.

I saw the Amanda Jette Kinox thing on here and I suppose Susie Green would have noticed it too, They needed a trans trustee urgently I would think.

I find it quite bizarre that given all the people they've apparently helped, they can't secure any trustees...

Geordie I guess the argument is they transitioned so successfully they are now stealth? But it is odd. I made another mistake earlier. Wikipedia says they were founded 1995. Still, that’s 25 years, so that should give them a few options?

I'd imagine those views would clash with the views of many Mermaids supporters. I remember Susie Green almost getting cancelled by TRAs in the US for work with the (UK) police.

Mermaids won’t be getting government grants for much longer-they promote gay conversion. Its simply not possible for a child to be born in the wrong body.

Bobbi is clearly trying to get work as a “trans trainer” in the big corporates. There was a lot of work there pre-Covid. Maybe a lot less opportunities post.

I wonder why not? As big names as trans people in various trans related charities or orgs I would think one of them would be involved...many heavy hitters in charities are often involved in more than one.

They could get Bergdorf for a few days until everything goes tits up.

Obviously doesn’t understand statistics to be quoting that debunked 50% (or 14/27 under 26 year olds from a self-selecting survey on a website for people with mental health difficulties - oh and who may also be post-transition when it has been shown transition hugely increases risk of suicide ) but may be why he was also unable to understand the risk he was personally exposing himself to by taking this post.

Well actually in this case it's Mumsnet having the prescribed obsession with trans women and accusing them of being 'baddies'. Bobbi was simply clearing up the accusation of being an anti-immigrant Trump supporter by the OP of this thread.
