The arrogance! Male candidate for Women’s Networking Support Group.

Jesus. Just had an email from the women’s group regarding the candidates for the new co-chair position.
One of the three nominees is a man. The arrogance and lack of self insight is staggering.
Of the other two people only one of them mentioned the word ‘women’ in their one minute speech. So fed up of this shit.

Well at least you know who to vote for!

QueenArseClangers · 02/06/2020 10:22

Exactly!

How odd that only one of three mentioned the word woman, I would have thought that impossible given the role but it's indicative of how far we have gone.

If you're able can you send feedback to all three candidates?

Did they say 'people' or was it simply all about themselves and not what the aim to achieve in the role...that has the word women in it Hmm

CaraDune · 02/06/2020 11:30

Jaw now on floor.

Would anyone think this was appropriate behaviour for any other "minority" support and networking group?

FFS

The Women's Networking Group where hardly anyone bothers to mention women. How very useful!

Smallsteps88 · 02/06/2020 11:46

I don’t think I’d be able to let that go unchallenged tbh.

QueenArseClangers · 02/06/2020 12:25

The bloke’s one minute spiel goes on about ‘inclusivity’ and how he wants to show other men how to be ‘inclusive’ Confused

OP posts:
QueenArseClangers · 02/06/2020 12:26

And all our other work groups (BAME, LGBT etc) seem to have being a member of those groups a prerequisite.

OP posts:
TyroSaysMeow · 02/06/2020 12:39

Surely the way to show other men how to be inclusive, in this context, would be to infiltrate a men's networking group and make it accessible to women?

Please send them this article. www.theonion.com/man-finally-put-in-charge-of-struggling-feminist-moveme-1819569515

I would have to challenge this, how tone death do you have to be to have the brass neck.

Does he have a beard? (I have to ask)

GrimDamnFanjo · 02/06/2020 16:24

It's the Students Union women's officer debate all over again...

Gronky · 02/06/2020 17:35

Is there a limit on the number of nominees?

AngryBananaSund · 02/06/2020 21:12

This is what I don’t get, the arrogance

I’m sure someone will be along in a minute to say this is male arrogance, but this is arrogance on steroids, pushed through a bank of amplifiers and broadcast by speakers the size of Birmingham

I’ve seen kids lecture world class authors on how they should do things, I’ve seen individuals wrap entire organisations around their little fingers, I’ve seen students lecture their teachers and escort them to the toilets, I’ve read pages explaining that a video shows a 61 year old attacking a 26 year old person when it’s obvious from Mars that it’s the other way around

Where do these people come from? How do they function in society without thinking they can go for a brisk walk in the fast lane of the M25

donquixotedelamancha · 02/06/2020 23:27

I don't understand how you know this person is a man, OP :-) Did ze state zhir gender identity in the one minute intro? If not it's just impossible to tell.

ItsLateHumpty · 03/06/2020 06:41

@QueenArseClangers

And all our other work groups (BAME, LGBT etc) seem to have being a member of those groups a prerequisite.
Can you ask work / HR why the prerequisite for a women’s group is different?
