Donated. I hope she meets her target.

Our experience of Bristol is that its welfare support for students is very poor indeed. And, from observation, international post grad students can end up very isolated. Then add in a good dollop of wokeness.

I completely believe that Raquels treatment has been unacceptable. I hope she gets her day in court, and that she wins.

Binterested · 02/08/2020 21:01

Dug and hope there’s progress legally. I would definitely advise my children to avoid Bristol Uni for this reason and the apparent ongoing issues with culture there.

DialSquare · 13/08/2020 11:39

Just had an email with the following update. University of Bristol asking for another extension.

Just got update too. Bloody hell that's awful! They drag the internal process out for 2 years, and are now trying the same with the legal process? Knowing full well RRS has a visa with a date on it...shame on them. Like she says in the update, they were very sure of themselves when dismissing her complaint that there was no problem, so surely they can just copy and paste that as their defence? Hmm

I don't think a judge will buy an extension if it appears they're playing games.

DialSquare · 13/08/2020 12:44

Terrible behaviour. They obviously don't care how it makes them look either.

severnboring · 13/08/2020 12:58

highame TWO extensions... I hope you're right!

Really awful, juvenile behaviour from what's meant to be a respectable institution. As someone who used to be an international student, it's really despicable that they are dragging things on knowing that she has visa restrictions and an end date. I can't imagine how stressful this must be for her and disruptive to her education.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 13/08/2020 13:16

There's no justification for an extention here. I hope it's not granted.

nevertrustaherdofcows · 13/08/2020 13:35

That has reminded me to nip to the toolshed again

Donated

by Dr Emma Williamson:

"The bullying and intimidation she has experienced, and which formed part of the initial complaint, appear to have been ignored. She feels that the University of Bristol has treated her in an inhumane, reckless and cruel manner and ignored threats to her safety".

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/09/2020 11:34

Great to see all the cases laid out like that!

morningtoncrescent62 · 11/09/2020 11:46

What a fabulous collation of all the cases. My gardening tools are locked in the shed till the end of the month but I'll bookmark for later.

334bu · 11/09/2020 13:55

Should the women speak post be a separate thread or would that contravene site rules. Feel it should get more exposure?

FindTheTruth · 11/09/2020 14:09

@334bu

^ 100% this. I'm not sure of the MN rules.

the women speak site is an amazing resource that could be many threads @NonnyMouse1337might be wrong but I think you're involved ?

NonnyMouse1337 · 11/09/2020 14:22

Hello. Smile Yes, I help out with the Women Speak Scotland stuff. I wasn't sure what the MN rules are so didn't want to overtly draw attention to the crowdfunding document by itself, but it can certainly be passed around and posted on threads if people find it a useful resource.

Arghmetoes · 11/02/2021 12:28

Just a little bump as a reminder that a bit more digging is needed for Raquel.

highame · 11/02/2021 14:37

If I remember correctly. The University really dragged their heals in the hope that she would return home before she could pursue her case. I hope they get theirs

NonnyMouse1337 - that is a deadlink with a 404 Error now. Is there a new link please?

highame · 13/02/2021 09:28

This case is really making me angry. She deserves better. Am also bumping

ValancyRedfern · 13/02/2021 09:34

Bump. How they can do this to her and think they have the moral high ground...

accessorizequeen · 13/02/2021 11:53

Donated. I hope she gets somewhere with them.

Sunkisses · 13/02/2021 12:03

Donated too. She has been treated appallingly by the cowardly University. Trans activists cannot act with impunity like this. She is very brave for perservering and deserves all our support

RozWatching · 13/02/2021 12:25

Just saw on Raquel's twitter that she has the same solicitors as Allison Bailey. Peter Daly is going to be busy this year!

Terranean · 16/02/2021 23:23

Raquel has also enabled links between Spanish feminism and uk counterparts. Some of her translations are circulating in feminist circles there and in other Hispanic speaking countries.

She is one of the casualties from this intolerant and blind vision of the world that wishes to dispose of women.

Digging for her too while frustrated and angry that so much of our energy and cash has to go on stating and defending what is already a right in law from so many different fronts.
