Sarah Champion joins panel on grooming gangs

The Times reports that Sarah Champion, the Labour MP who quit the shadow cabinet after her comments on grooming gangs were deemed controversial has been invited to join a review panel. This panel's analysis will be made public in the autumn.

I apologise, my share tokens don't seem to work. I like Sarah Champion. She strikes me as someone who with integrity.

It's ok Bovary I've discovered my online subscription still works! Have bookmarked to read later. It's good to know sensible people can still be appointed to panels that make important at decisions. It's been such a shit-show I really hope some cuts through all the BS and children are made safe.

That's a good point. It reminds me of this tactic some wag cited for burying difficult news during the Iraq War. No story. Old story. Some version of this seems to be what has replaced investigative journalism. And what has taken its place is navel gazing narcissism from the likes of Owen Jones et al.

Good news. It’s a sign of how bad things have got that I at first thought this was about Sarah Brown - the polyamorous trans activist responsible for some of the lunacy in the LibDems.

Can't read more than a couple of paragraphs using the token/ link so it is not clear who is saying in the opening post about understanding the nervousness...and who is saying some text following it in quotation marks.

I'm thinking this review panel could be the result of a petition for publication of the government's research which was refused but the petitioner's office subsequently wrote to the Home Office demanding a proper response according to the rules for petitions and as a result, Priti Patel wrote back making excuses etc but undertaking to set up a review of the research and publish the review findings. I know this because I got a copy of the correspondence as I'd signed the petition. I read and deleted it but can probably retrieve it if anyone is interested to read it.
