I have been lurking on twitter lately and noticed Baroness Nicholson has been very active recently. Amongst her tweets are quite a few gems - letters to Liz Truss, tweets asking for evidence about Stonewall’s involvement CPS guidance just to name two.

This tweet I found very encouraging too.

It is imperative to restore the rights of women.I foresee a single issue, cluster approach;we make a new Women’s Rights movement lasting one year, solely to rescue womanhood from its destruction through today’s legal and social denial of our existence.Emma,BNoW

She has today written to Liz Truss again but this time with her concerns about the gross misinterpretation of the ECHR in the trans toolkits used in schools and recommends that such toolkits are removed from use now. Such support is great news.

I will try to post the letter for those not on twitter.

I look forward to seeing what what happens next.

Thanks Mockers. Interesting Sandra Gidley was on the gender balance task force. Wonder what her view actually is on this...

She is taking everything on board and looking at it from a perspective that she is resuming that fight she thought was over decades ago

Exactly this. It’s such a breath of fresh air that she has marched right in and is saying things that only a year ago were almost unsayable. I don’t get the impression she’s being bullied to the extent that other female politicians have been either. The direction of travel has changed and it feels like the changes are accelerating.

Moving from “Maybe we can stop self-ID” to “Repeal the GRA“ is huge.

ChattyLion · 16/05/2020 23:01

This is fantastic news. A relief. (I know there’s such a long way to go to make change, but just to know there are women in power who actually get this.. see it all for what it is.. and see some of the changes needed. It’s such a relief!

ScapaFlo · 16/05/2020 23:25

🤞🤞

I don’t get the impression she’s being bullied to the extent that other female politicians have been either.

She always asks for evidence and seems to analyze it before making comments. I have only seen one person question her in a derogatory way lately and she was gracious but firm.

It may be that her support is more of someone with clout seeking answers and calm advice. And the more she speaks, the more other politicians and people in her wide network will listen.

She's definitely getting swamped by the endless examples of what's going on, but impressively, she's taking on board that which she can address & challenge. It's a mountainous task but she's doing what she can & that's huge given how much of a poisoned chalice the left seems to view this.

For anyone sneering at Tory peers, or MPs, actually grasping the nettle while left wing twats navel gaze & worry about how it'll look to their fellow navel gazing lefties, feck off with your purity politics. Progress is currently being made by teenage girls & tories while the left wrangle how to maintain purity & standing amongst the worst misogynistic abusive activists. Cos that matters more than getting shit done for some...Hmm

Needmoresleep · 17/05/2020 05:12

Though she started out as a Tory MP, she became a LibDem peer and is now Independent. Should sounds like someone determined to inhabit a centre ground.

MrsSnippyPants · 17/05/2020 08:42

The baroness woke up on the badass side of the bed this morning Grin

The Baroness is formidable. I am more and more impressed with every tweet. If only we still had some more MPs who were brave enough to stand up & be counted on this issue.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 08:58

The Badass Baroness... I rather like that! Should be a kids book...

ThinEndoftheWedge · 17/05/2020 09:00

Can you have a girl crush (cisgenderheteronormative) on a Baroness?

Wow. Wow. Love her.

Winesalot · 17/05/2020 09:03

This morning has been lovely to watch MrsSnippyPants. In amongst the occasional wonderful pic of a church or a pulpit, she is still asking and learning, she is pulling up sweary posters (just on language not opinions), and then she pats down a pesky activist.

I actually enjoy her twitter feed.

I understand that she must be used to heavy protocol in her language but I must admit that I am ok with the occasional sweary post. It tends to get the message across when used appropriately.

Who is Mrs snippy pants - pic with a cat?

ScapaFlo · 17/05/2020 10:02

Isn't she fab?

Winesalot · 17/05/2020 10:41

Just posting for those not on twitter. Her reply to JD was just aimed at the right pitch. A reminder of the depth of the chasm between a writer who continues to pornify our daughters in the name of education and titillation, who uses children for their own purposes vs a true and well-experienced champion of children’s rights that protects them.

But I am sure that a narcissist would not see this distinction.

What pic with cat Lordfrontpaw? I'm confused (as usual). Smile

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 11:26

Twitter profile pic? I get confused with people names and usually go by the pic!

I dunno, but I'm definitely in love.

ScapaFlo · 17/05/2020 11:51

Me too 💕

MrsSnippyPants · 17/05/2020 11:58

I’m not on Twitter as MrsSnippyPants, is someone using that name?

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 12:14

Oh no not the same name but a poster on the same threads I hang around! I suspect she is on here too.

DirtyDeeds · 17/05/2020 13:09

She was our MP when I was a child - she was the only Tory I like and defected to Lib Dem’s. Don’t hold that against her 😄
She was a very active local MP, razor sharp and it’s been wonderful to see her voicing the views of WOMEN

MrsSnippyPants · 20/05/2020 18:08

The TRAs are trying to instigate a pile-on to attack the Baroness, as well as accounts that support her. If you are on Twitter, I'm sure a few supportive words wouldn't go amiss. They can be very vicious and it may come as a shock to her.

BringbackLang · 20/05/2020 18:12

I don't imagine that the Baroness is someone who can be bullied. If anything she seems the type that such behaviour will only strengthen her resolve.

I feel that this may be a huge own goal for the TRA's.
