Hey, I’m writing an article on pride and I want to be super sure I’ve got an ACCURATE historical account as opposed to one of the new doctored ones😏

Could someone point me to any accurate resources they have found?

I obviously don’t want to get any facts wrong!

I'd try LGB Alliance to be honest. Other rainbow variety Prides say it was started by Marsha who is called a transwoman or a drag queen depending on where you go and some refer to Stormé as a trans man and not a lesbian.

I think they did a video with Fred Sargeant who recalls it all as he was there, as a passer-by.

Thanks, I’m familiar with LGB Alliance, will check out their information.

Don’t worry Stormé will definitely remain a lesbian in my article. No rewriting of history on my watch 😊

I wouldn't expect anything less Sex! Grin

Fred Sargeant @FredSargeant - he is a stonewall vet and a great one to follow on twitter. He keeps his finger on the pulse and is very hot on historical accuracy.

Lordfrontpaw · 01/05/2020 15:36

@OhHolyJesus - just saw you mentioned Fred. I really like Fred!

Link when you're done!

There are some funny gay conservatives in the US who have good takes on it, Milo, Chadwick Moore, and the whole #walkaway movement.

Sexnotgender · 01/05/2020 15:40

I do follow him on twitter. I’ll go stalk his timeline 😂

Unfortunately it’s an internal piece for work.

Thought I’d best volunteer for it and ensure it was done accurately🤫

Hi

Is this about Pride in the UK or in the US? There are differences although overlap.

Really need to start with the Gay Liberation Front. Haven't had time to do a proper search and needless to say the ones google comes up with are from a male perspective but do include some interesting historical footnotes about women.

See libcom.org/library/brief-history-gay-liberation-front-1970-73
And www.vice.com/en_uk/article/wjvawn/uk-gay-pride-history-gay-liberation-front

And think the big change was not so much GLF to Pride, but when they stopped being political and it became a corporate sponsered fancy dress event. (Maybe this coincided with the formation of Stonewall.)

I am sure there is lots of useful info in the Lesbian Archives but unfortunately these are now housed a Glasgow Women's Library.

Where is the article for? Its just that might make a difference as to who responds, but if you did post a message on the LGB Alliance facebook page you may get some good personal history information.

Thanks Stumbledin it’s an internal piece at work in the uk for pride month.

I’m looking for an accurate historical representation.
