Single sex spaces are a question of consent

It is very good news that Liz Truss has said that single sex spaces are a core principle for how this government will deal with sex and gender.

I think we need to be clear that this is not about backing into the corner of defending "women's safe spaces" with case-by-case risk assessment.

It is about everyday situations and it is about everybody's privacy and dignity.

Fundamentally it is about consent. I think she needs to hear this from all sides

Here is my contribution... a-question-of-consent.net/

If anyone has written a good letter to Liz Truss and wants to share it let me know Smile

Hi Maya,
In was thinking about you and the appeal recently. I presume that's all on hold until prohibitions are lifted.

You shouldn’t need a law degree, or a PhD in gender studies to work out who can use which facilities. Nor should you have to guess
To protect everybody’s privacy and dignity there needs to be clarity
,😂 So much this.

It's so blindingly simple. Same sex spaces for females, for males, and mixed sex for everyone ok with mixed sex space. Why there are those out there pretending this is like particle physics is beyond me.

Anyone female has rights to female only spaces. If you have a dick you don't have that right. End of story.

Yes. No news on the appeal yet.

It is still in the "sift" with the judge - but hopeful to hear something soon, although the appeal tribunal will be all backed up for some time.

Thanks sincerely for your blog, Maya. So wonderfully clear and easy to understand.

You point out in clear language, that something that is obvious, is obvious - in this climate of policy capture and regulatory capture, and obfuscating language forced on us.

Thank you.

That's great, Maya, thank you Thanks

Excellently put, Maya.

Hard to argue with, unless you have no respect for anyone else's feelings, needs, access and consent.

It may be about consent, but the purpose of single sex spaces are already a right under the EA.

What needs to be challenged is why this hasn't been enforced, why many funders have deliberately undermined this by saying, for example, that a refuge will only get funding if the aren't single sex - plus of course how the media has totally bought into (been captured) by the trans narrative.

The question is why this right that already exists, is being undermined, and this undermining has gone unchallenged for so long.
