Anyone surprised by this hasn't been paying attention for the last few years at least.

Datun · 25/04/2020 11:07

It's absolutely awful. 2000 fucking accounts!?

The police need to set up a team to track these men and arrest them.

stillathing · 25/04/2020 11:43

I love that woman and I'm going to buy her book.

However the Guardian has done its bit to perpetuate the environment which allows MRAs /TRAs to keep threatening women who refuse to centre men. They could have been a champion of women's rights, providing some of the the education that younger people are missing and galvanising much needed support.

stillathing · 25/04/2020 11:44

It will be interesting to see if /what the police do.

MoltenLasagne · 25/04/2020 12:08

The men sending these threats are committing a crime and should be treated accordingly. I wonder how many are based in the UK and therefore able to be tracked by police here. Misogyny certainly seems to be an international hobby for certain men.

twoHopes · 25/04/2020 14:43

If the Guardian cared about the abuse that women face online maybe they'd think twice about celebrating Owen Jones, a man who seems to find a special satisfaction in telling women they are "vile terfs" and encouraging Twitter pile-ons.

It's incredibly sad to hear Jessica is going through this, although as a PP said - unfortunately not surprising.

I'll not hold my breath

Some of the men who harassed her are now blaming her on twitter for not making it clear enough that the book is about rape and abuse so they wouldn't now be embarrassed about harassing her.
Wankers.

Qcng · 25/04/2020 23:10

Whaaa...

So blokes set up 2000 accounts to Target abuse and threaten the author of a book called "why women are blamed for everything" and then.... Blame her for it.

Datun · 26/04/2020 09:22

Qcng

You couldn't make it up, could you. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic

TerfTerfTerf · 26/04/2020 11:09

Please look at #IWasBlamed on Twitter. It's harrowing but important

LadyBBKing · 26/04/2020 11:19

Owen Jones is the reason why so many of my friends have cancelled their Guardian subscription.
