Fuck... I hope all the women and those poor children have found some form of peace. This makes my heart hurt and I fear so much that there will be many more incidents like this in the coming weeks Sad

Cheeryandmerry · 30/03/2020 22:29

One in Herts too. Man, woman, younger woman (daughter) killed in a house fire yesterday. Police not looking for anyone else. I think we don’t need to guess at the set up here. Absolutely fucking tragic.

SapatSea · 30/03/2020 22:36

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8167143/Husband-69-accused-Britains-self-isolation-murder.html

Nine dead in a string of domestic murders.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 30/03/2020 22:44

A husband has been accused of Britain’s first self-isolation murder

I actually hate this line. “Britain’s first self isolation murder”

NO!! Not the first self isolation murder. That’s not what it is! It’s male violence, male murder. Exactly as it was before corona virus existed. Fuck all the people who are only acknowledging this, reporting this, noticing this because it has the current buzz word attached to it. Angry pay attention to it ALL! All the victims of Male violence deserve your attention. Male violence has killed far more people than corona virus ever will.

middleager · 30/03/2020 22:46

It's chilling.

There is a current thread where a woman is desperately trying to leave in lockdown. I hope she succeeds because this will only worsen for women the longer lockdown continues.

Saisong · 30/03/2020 22:58

I glimpsed a headline today, I believe it was from Daily Mail. Said something like 'self-isolation kills 2 women' and I'm immediately raging that NO it was in fact MEN who killed those women Angry They just can't bring themselves to admit it can they...

ItsLateHumpty · 31/03/2020 04:29

And from Oz

'NSW Attorney General Mark Speakman says there's been a 75 per cent increase "in contact or in searches about domestic and family violence" in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

He says the complexity of referrals has increased and there is a much greater demand for temporary crisis accommodation.'

"My message to everyone in New South Wales is this: There is never an excuse for domestic and family violence, the cover of a coronavirus pandemic is no excuse, no excuse for domestic and family violence.

"We will ramp up services as required to support victim survivors and we will track down perpetrators to hold them to account."

Sad

The Times is also reporting another family killing in Hemel Hempstead. The victims were Caroline Walker, 50, and Katie, 24. May they rest in peace.

This is terrible Sad

This is such a sad thread. Maybe I’ll think of something more helpful to say later

MorrisZapp · 31/03/2020 09:32

Good god. How absolutely chilling. One common thread with family annihilators is often debt and loss of business etc. Many families are now facing ruin.

FrauleinF · 31/03/2020 15:02

Just read the guardian article on the family annihilation.

At the end it posts the contact details for the samaritans. No mention of any domestic abuse charity.

Am incandescent with rage.

womanfromvenus · 31/03/2020 15:06

The Mail Online currently has a big sensational headline about ‘lockdown killings’ with a number of recent murders- there’s the two women who were murdered and now a couple of families that seem to be murder suicides Sad

It will be interesting to see how many of these were the man.

Haworthia · 31/03/2020 20:56

Another family annihilation:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-52107043

The fact these murders all get reported as being due to the lockdown, as opposed to male violence, makes me absolutely sick.

DidoLamenting · 31/03/2020 21:25

It's so predictable.

Qcng · 31/03/2020 21:28

A husband has been accused of Britain’s first self-isolation murder after his wife was found dead

First week of quarantine, "Britian's first S-I murder". We're all expecting more, aren't we.

Danceswithwarthogs · 01/04/2020 07:49

Just reading about Kelly Fitzgibbons, Ava and Lexi named in murder suicide by her partner/their father.

No words Sad... news article said that motive was money worries due to covid....

so many people have those right now, what kind of pride/twisted logic translates that to taking the lives of your partner and beautiful children with their lives ahead of them. And why a gun in the house anyway?

How do we stop this?

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 01/04/2020 09:14

Saw this on Twitter this morning

Wilding · 01/04/2020 09:19

I was actually impressed by the Times' reporting of the family annihilator - headline read "Builder kills wife and daughters at family home" and not referred to as a 'tragedy' or any of that other euphemistic bollocks that papers usually spout.

WinterIsGone · 01/04/2020 09:41

I've just read The Times, and had the same thoughts, Wilding - none of that guff about what a nice man he was, pushed to the limits by the CV. They quote two people saying what a bully he was, and another saying they hadn't seen any evidence of a problem before, and just seemed like a normal family. Awful story.

Oops accidentally hit Post when I didn't mean to yet. It was meant to have this link: twitter.com/michaelsheen/status/1243898732883648518?s=19

DaydreamingDay · 01/04/2020 10:40

Why did I read the comments in the Mail? Barely any mentioning how abhorrent it is that he killed a woman, but plenty about the poor children and the dog. One person who said how evil it is when men kill women got attacked by people bemoaning that men get killed too ffs. The poor woman hardly a thought in people's heads.

Haworthia · 01/04/2020 14:24

Women can never get any recognition for anything, because “What about men?”

I saw a lighthearted post on FB about giving props to single mothers on Mother’s Day. First reply was “Single fathers exist too you know”.

DaydreamingDay · 01/04/2020 17:48

Ugh Haworthia, I am so sick of that attitude. Women are completely invisible...well, unless men wish to exploit their bodies.
