The Genetic Gender Gap

Next Monday at 9am on Radio 4, I just heard announced at the end of this week's episode. Kirsty Wark discusses the gender superiority of WOMEN with two (female) scientists. I think particularly in view of the CV19 statistics showing a difference depending on sex.
I'll have to remember to listen though or catch up on Sounds!

I read an article about that in the Times, this weekend. One of the scientists is male.

This is just as bad as the alternative imo. Women are not superior. They seem to suffer less from a particular virus - but so do young people and those who have type O blood.

I read the entry on the BBC website and it mentioned two scientists who have "female" names, so who knows?! Sharon Moalem and Gina Rippon. It sounds like a fairly serious analysis of this so-called difference and does use the word "women". It might be shite but probably worth listening.

Sharon is a Jewish male name....

The main trust of the piece was not about the 'superiority' of women, so much as the genetic strength of females...

Dr Sharon Moalem: why women are the genetically stronger sex
Women survive exhaustion, famine and even coronavirus better than men. Why? Bryan Appleyard meets the genetic scientist with a game‑changing answer

I didn't mention it as an opportunity to celebrate our "superiority" but thought it might be an interesting listen and the BBC has used the word "woman"

Sharon Moalem has recently written a book on the subject of women's genetic advantage over men, which was excerpted recently in the Sunday Times - we had a separate thread on it.
